How long should an atomizer head last?

I just received my Kanger Unitank which came with a 2.5, 2.2 and 1.8 ohm atomizer head. After 3 days of using the 2.5 ohm vapor was not being produced any more (I cleaned and dry burned the atomizer at least twice), so I changed the atomizer head and my ecig works again. My question is how long should an atomizer head last? I've read they last about 2-3 weeks but mine only lasted 3 days?

It mainly depends on the juice. Some dark, thick liquids can gunk up an atty in less than two days. VG gunks a little faster than PG. Unflavored or lightly flavored nicotine base, even with as much as 50% VG, can help an atty stay clean for weeks. With my DIY juice, the coils in my RM2 RDAs are over three months old and all I do is replace the cotton wick every so often.

I used a Kanger Unitank with an Ego C Twist and a 2.5 ohm Kanger head. The juice I am using is dark brown (tobacco flavour). Would you say 3 days was normal for the atty to stop working or was it a maybe "bad" atomizer?

Especially if your tobacco is a naturally extracted tobacco (NET), i.e. real tobacco, what you experienced wouldn't be outside the range of normal. Even some of the arti-baccos (lab synthetics, i.e. Johnson Creek) will do that. Tell me more about your tobacco juice.

Well the juice I currently am using is called "Naked premium tobacco", it is nicotine free and I'm not sure about the PG/VG ratio. It is dark brown in colour and it's consistency seems thicker than water. Could you possibly give some pointers on how to make atomizer heads last longer (rebuilding for example?)? I'm mainly looking to save as much money as I can.

Yes, the juice can make or break a new coil. Also, the vape technique plays a role. If you vape all wrong like me, and use the wrong juice, i.e., dark, sweet juice, like me, then you can get on 1 - 3 days on a coil. I get one to two days on my cartomizers. I don't care, I like what I like, and replace them frequently, almost daily. I also learned to rebuild my own coils, which greatly reduced the coil cost to about a nickel, and then I don't worry about dry burning or cleaning. I can make a month of coils in a single sitting for about the cost of a retail coil. Also, I can select the best wire and wick material (like cotton), so the flavor wicks and tastes better. Remember, even if you do replace them daily, it's still less expensive than smoking. My carto's cost me about $5,00 per week. Coils were about a quarter per week (rebuilding). Good luck and welcome to the Forum.

I also mix my own juice...i try to keep it clear most times and a factory wick/coil usually will last a week. But I also rewick and recoil so I sometime will use a sweeter thicker juice ...just cuz I like it and I can. Kanger heads a re easy to rebuld. One of the better vids Ive seen is by Sean at Lightning Vapes....watch.

I don't see anything unusual about that juice, other than the dark flavoring you describe. Unless you went VG Heavy, it's 50/50. I'll just recommend washing the clearomizer tank and head (out of the base), in the hottest tap water you have, after every tank or two. Other than that, you're looking at rebuilding the heads yourself to save money.
