Didn't want to hijack the vaping in public thread but it got me thinking......can people really not smell it? Everyone I ask, says they don't smell anything but they still have this suspicious look in their eyes. Even my DH. And now he's asking me if I'm "smoking that thing" more than I smoked cigarettes. I wonder? I don't think so. But I do find the act comforting. I don't vape 10 times in a row like I did with a analog but I'm more apt to pick up my e-.... 4 or more times an hour to take a hit or 2. I think what's going on is my body telling me how much nicotene I need to stableize. Maybe it's time to lower the nicotene level of my juice?

My mind is just wandering.....

It depends on what flavor you are vaping. The aroma is an important part of the flavor you perceive because your tongue can only taste sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami/savory (msg)

I vape vanilla and a mostly cocoa flavor at work and in the car - nobody can really smell either of those. but when I vaped the very tobacco nutty/pungent Turkish blend Desert Ship they complained about the smell outside my office and I couldn't vape it in the car (fiance hated it and would start rolling down windows and coughing).

honestly, and im being COMPLETELY honest..you can definitely smell it. If you are a new vaper and are using prefilled cartomizers from cheap (and i mean cheap as in phony and ripoff, not the inexpensive cheap definition) vendors that sell ecig mods that look like actual cigarettes, then you might get people that say they dont smell it. Thats mainly because there isnt much flavor or vapor that these mods put off. But I guarantee, if you buy from a vendor that sells juices that are great, then they will definitely smell it. Ms T's bakery, which is MIGHTY expensive, practically a dollar a miligram, is a vendor that smells good tasting liquids. You can smell every single liquid, good tasting or bad. I can guarantee that they can smell the vapor if it was a stronger and more prominent juice from a decent vendor.
However, it doesnt smell bad, it smells like what it is. If your vaping watermelon, it smells like watermelon.
Those cheap vendors that sell crap ecigs fail in every category. If you do have a cigarette imitation mod..switch for an actual bigboy mod. I'm talking about something that looks like a lightsaber handle..haha.
Good day!!

I just got back from a turn around car trip with 2 non-smokers one of them being my mother andthe other my older sister! I brought out my pv and asked if it would bother them. They both said no. After vaping a few times, I asked if they could smell it and they both said no. I was using a tobacco flavor. Later in the trip I switched to a regular menthol and I asked if they could smell that and they both said no. I vaped the whole way there and the whole way back. Six hours to our destination and six hours back home....according to them, no odor, no other irritations for them at all. Now if I would have pulled out my strawberry or cherry, they probably would have smelled that.

Looks like we need a poll.

Everyone I know can smell it. It does not smell like cigarettes, but it has an aroma.

I can smell the juice in the containers inside, inside ziplocs, inside another locking container with a box of open fridge baking soda inside. That is just the e-liquids. When I vape, even I can smell it, but it is not as bad as cigs by any means.

My husband says he can smell it. Of, course it is not an offensive odor he says. He says he would much perfer to smell the sweetness and "smoke Machine" smell over analogs any day of the week. When I smoked the "Blu" he could not smell anything. The Virgina blend he says has a mild good cigar smell. If we can taste and smell it I am sure they can too, but I am sure someone who does not know what I am doing just can not figure out what they are smelling.

I think it really depends on the juice you are using.

After getting into the PV thing, (going on week 9 now with no desire for stink sticks), I now vape in the house. Never did it with analogs. Didn't want to stink up the place plus wifey would've killed me (before the analogs did).

Was chain vaping the other night & wifey walks in from work. She asks me what that smell is.

Me: What does it smell like?
Wifey: Kinda sweet.
Me: (Looking at the rig I am using). Oh it's Dew Drop.
Wifey: Noice.

I can smell the residue of the base used in the juice, but usually not the flavoring. Dried VG smells a little alkaline to me, and it does settle in my clothes a bit. After they hit the machine it's gone, but I spilled a little raw VG on the sofa and smelled it for a while. Had to take some fabric cleaner to it.
