Max output for the kick is 10w. These would be the absolute max amps through the wiring that you would see to get 10w in different arrangements.

Fully charged battery w/o kick: 10w at 4v (loaded) and 2.5 amps with 1.6 ohm coil.
Kick with 2.0 ohm coil: 2.24A at 10w
Kick with 3.0 ohm coil: 1.83A at 10w

I would say that there is a misconception that the kick is harmful to the Bolt's wiring.

I would say that there is a misconception that the kick is harmful to the Bolt's wiring.

Some (I know it's a vague number & argument, sorry) said Bolt's wiring is 2A max.
So consider "The Kick performs best with attys/cartos in the 1.3 to 3Ω range." and the problem with the nature of the coil, which of course never exactly what it said. Most 3 Ω are actually between 2.8 - 3.2Ω, if you get <3Ω coil then you're good but if you get >3Ω then "You can use higher rated resistance but the Kick will not regulate well at the highest power levels if resistance is above 3 ohms". (ref: The Kick – Instructions « Evolv)

So the best coil should be between 2.5 - 3Ω to operate it at 10W safely.

I simply added the extension ring to the battery tube of the Bolt - put in the 18500 battery - put the kick on top - screwed on the top. Works like a champ. It is easier the first time to add the Kick onto the top of the extension (harder to push up thru the bottom past the threading of the extension). To change batteries, I screw off just the bottom and leave the Kick in place. No wiring modification was needed. Works great.

I have heard some re-wire the button, but so far it is fine on mine. I imagine a stronger/thicker wire is always better...but for now it seems to be fine. The Kick does NOT need the re-wiring in order to work on the Bolt unless you have paint inside the tube that keeps the spring from making contact. If you do have spray inside the tube, you can scrape or sand the paint off inside the tube to make the contact.
