I only own a AGA-T+ the reasons i want to mod this is one of the knurled nuts for my center post is wonky it will not screw down all the way it basically only caps the top (the threads are messed up) so when i build a coil i tighten the middle nut (bring it down to make room for the wire( then i loosen it) this tightens it up against the top nut to hold the wire. I will be buying a parts kit to get a new one but still thinking of changing it all toghether.I have seen other RBAs that use a washer and a spring, for me this will work to do 2 things, First to make it easier to secure my wire, Second the washer will hopefully help the fact that that the wick hole IMO is a bit too far from the post which creates a hot spot which i can only fix by actually pulling the wick towards the center post. Many have said a washer will fix that so that's my idea here.

Where should i go to get the parts Here is a list of stores i have in order from closest to farthest away from me. Home Depot, Lowes, TruValue, Harbor Freight and a 30 min drive away is an ace hardware. I have been told ACE is the place but any of the other stores closer? i know home depot and Lowes wont have it and harbor freight is kinda a discount tool store not much in the hardware AFAIK. Also i have never been to the TruValue as it is a Dixie line Lumber/TruValue so i think they will be more like a home depot/Lowes.

Has anyone else done this? if you have where did you get the hardware? How does it work out for you? I want to get a really strong spring but it will have to be a small diameter to not create shorts. Anyone know the sizes i should get/look for when i go to get the springs and washers (if im going to make the drive just for washers and springs i will get a bunch because i wouldn't want to go back as the gas for the trip will be like $5-$10)

I would love to see pictures of modded rba's I only own an AGA so AGA mods would be cool to see but any mods might give me ideas and i want to get try other RBA's too and might get some ideas.

Now on the subject of of wicks. I have not had much luck in making a good wicking SS mesh wick I always have to tip (maybe a single wick cant keep up with my vaping style IDK) I have tried solid wicks, Straw Wicks, Small and large, I have tried a "p" wick (didn't notice anything??? explain to me the reason for this if you like this wick design) I have not used an unoxidized wick or partially oxidised wick. I have no idea about Hybrid wicks with cotton or cheesecloth.

I have removed the post for using silica wick so i will be making a "U" wick for my next wick but IDK. I am just thinking a "U" wick may keep up with my vaping style.

Whats the best in your opinion?? Everyone has one tell me yours lol.

Now Most of all thanks for reading guys and gals please reply and post post post i don't care what about (try to stay a bit on topic i don't want to hear about your cat unless it vapes lol) So go for it! I wanna be like Scrooge Mc Duck and Swim in the pool of your :2c:

Also if you want post a pick of how you have your RBA set up might give me or others ideas Also I only Have an AGA so seeing others set up would me cool to see so post your RBA Pron. :p

First off, my positive post threads are messed up too. Takes a little finnaeglin to get those stupid little nuts on, but make sure you have the nuts on the right way. The nuts have two sides, one concaved and one flat. I use the bottom two nuts with the flat parts upwards, and the top nut with the flat part down. Since then, I haven't had a problem with the wire being secured.

Second, wicks. On my next setup I'm going to try this U wick, it really interests me, but this current setup is perfect so I'm not messing with it for a while, lol. I vape constantly during the day, chain-vaping most of the time, I normally vape damn near horizontally though, so the tilt doesn't bother me. I rarely get dry hits. I explain here how I roll my wick...http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/rebuildable-atomizer-systems/379790-lacking-plumes-aga-t.html

Third...pictures!

Keep at it man, it takes patience, but once you get it...you GET IT. It's such a great feeling! :)

edit - little performance video...

NICE if this thread is nothing but pics that would be cool too. I and possibly others like seeing others setups i wanna see something crazy lol

as far as the nut thing foes lol one of the nuts i have just wont screw on past the halfway point at all it has to have messed up threadding as i said it only caps the top of the post i too noticed that their is a concave side and a flat side i put the bottom 2 on flat side up and the top nut flat side down too. I just think not gaving to turn a nut at all would be cool just wrap it and the spring will hold it tight , at least thats my idea. Kinda like the AC9 lol thier are some others that are not genni style that use the springs too but i forget what. I still for the life of me hate the distance of the wick to the post so i think i will benifit from the washer if anything it will just make it easier as thats the part that always has a hot spot to deal with or sometimes using 32 guage it will pop if you fire a bad coil. i prefer a 30 guage as its a stronger wire than 32 but i can get the resistance i want without many wraps with 28 guage i do 3/4 or 4/5 mostly 4/5 but with 28 sometimes ill even go 5/6 i like to make my coils around 1.7 (1.5-1.9 is what i shoot for if its over 1.9 i dont care but if its below 1.5 i normally fix it because its too close to the point where my PV doesnt like it and errors me. also i always have to tilt it doesnt bother me much but it just makes me feel like i am doing something wrong.

Anyway BEAUTIFUL PICS keep them comming! the only U wick i have seen working was on youtube i know someone here has goit it going good. Also if you post a pic can you explain your wick? Straw, Solid, or anything else diferent than that.

Great thread idea!

Here is my Zap with the coil and wick that came installed in it. It needed almost no adjustment and has been working perfectly for the past couple weeks with no fiddling. The coil is 1.8ohms and I'm vaping at 3.8v. The wick is what came with the unit.

Here is the Zap firing.

Here is my setup on my vulcan (did clone from surevapes) I have had numerous wicks and coils on this thing. They all seem to work great for a day or two then I can tell something is off. I can't seem to get it to work consistently. This is my latest setup with no oxidizing and using the Petar K method. It seems to be working right now, crossing my fingers that this will last awhile. The coil is 1.9 ohms and I'm vaping at 3.8v right now. The wick has a very small hole down the center. Both the zap and vulcan need to be tilting to wick.
