I was just wondering cause me and my gf both have passthroughs and have gone through attys like no other and I'm wondering if the passthrough can be the cause of it because I just got an atty replacement from Litecigusa (with no issue, the staff their is fantastic) yesterday and now the atty is already starting to burn very hot. My gf then suggested to try her passthrough and it was a normal hit. Tried it with a normal 510 battery and it was normal. Also if it helps I have the passthrough connected to my pc.

I have a 5v passthrough and it cooks everything, maybe some run hotter than others? That's what I would guess if your girlfriend has the same one and it is okay on that.

If it is 5v, it's highly recommended to use a 2 amp wall adapter with them, and not use your computer.

It depends on the Power supply in the PC. If it's a decent brand-name PSU then you can use passthrough's with no problem. The cheap and nasty ones can cause problems.

Using the USB ports on the back helps since the front USB ports often have cheap cabling.

If it's a true pass through (no inline battery), I'd recommend getting a dedicated USB power supply. The IQ Dual, 2A total output, sold by Walmart online is pretty decent. A $10 investment can save you from toasting your PC if you get a short, whether an atty short or due to wiring in the PT mucking up.
