Can we do a dry burn on an 801 too ???

Ok so we know we can burn all the gunk off of a 510 with a dry burn and it works pretty good. However can we also do the same with an 801 too.????
I have a bunch of HV and Reg 801's I would like to know if anyone has tried it,,,, before I ruin some..!!!

I'm a pro at killing penstyle attys but not at dry burning them.

Yes you can Dry Burn 801s, but be careful when you do it. If you see liquid inside of it when you start Dry Burning DO NOT STOP. Shack out the liquid, and or hold down the button till it's gone.

I have found that liquid inside 801s when dry burning causes them to pop more than anything.



Also be warned as you already know. Dry Burning separates the babies from the men. If it was meant to die then it's going to die. Yet, if it lives you knows you has a good atty.

Hi guys, I started with the penstyles over a year ago. Still use one every day. 801, RN4072 and 302.

I've never dry burned... only time I have lost an atty is due to a wonky 5v passthrough (7 deaths in an hour!!) and a battery mod that had a bad adapter *mad* I've got some attys that are at least 8 or 9 months old. Still vape just fine.

If I have a tight draw I first checked (when I used to use polyfill in carts) to see if fibers migrated under the bridge in the pot and used an interdental brush to get out the fibers (now I use AquaClear foam).

If gunky from bad juice, boil in the microwave with about 2 inches of water over the top of the attys (yeah, you can put water covered metal in a microwave!) for 3 min. and let sit to cool Then rinse or soak to displace water with PGA, prime up with about 6 drops or so of liquid and vapes like new. I use EverClear (PGA) to clean them about once a month or so.

Less is more when cleaning penstyle attys I think.

Why Thank You DaMulta, someone finally came through for me, So you have dry burned the 801 DaMulta and your saying its the exact same technique as the 510 Dry Burn right DaMulta.? and you say it is best to let the Atty completely dry out first then do the Burn I take it, and no other different things compared to the 510 dry burn right ??

Why thank you Hellen-A-Handbasket for that info, it sounds like a winner I will try this, however I have had bad luck with cleaning Atty's with any type of liquid at all, hence why I wanted to know about the Dryburn technique, but yours sounds interesting and I will have to give that a shot

Yes Sir, that is correct.


That, or don't stop Dry Burning till you don't see liquid in it. That's the lazy way that I do it, because I hate messing with things in this nature.

Dry Burning IMO is the best way to clean atomizers. Reason is that you get EVERYTHING cooked out of it.


One thing you can do is blow it out first, and stick a paper towel down in it to soak out the liquid before a dry burn.




If I don't dry burn, and want a quick clean.

I take a cup of water throw the atomizer into it. and shack the water around circularly. While pouring out the old water, and adding new water. Then blow it out, and start vapping on it. Not as good as Dry Burning, but it does work well.

Well I see your way as the water trick. Which is just flushing it out, but I just can't get all the crap out of it by doing that.


With a Dry Burn your done in 5-10 mins, and I don't have the atty failure that a ton of other people have when it comes to cleaning atomizers.

Hellen me too, I've tried cleaning and it seems whenever I wet an 801 with anything and then go to use them they just dont perform anymore or pop, this is why I want to dry burn my 801's so I dont have to wet them with anything but juice. I really would like to know the answer to your question though

If you do it that way all your doing is flooding your atty without flavoring/nicotine. You might remove some crap before doing a dry burn, but I see it as wasting PG lol.

ummm, nope DaMulta... it isn't wet because I'm talking about PGA (PureGrainAlcohol as in EverClear), not PG (Propylene glycol)! Am I confused or are you? LOL

I get plenty of black crud out of my atty by soaking it in PGA. I've also never lost an atty after cleaning (heck, never lost a 510 atty period and have plenty of 801/RN4027 attys that are 7 or 8 months old... they look like hell, but vape a storm).

The PGA evaporates totally (it is 190 proof alcohol) so all I have to do is reprime and vape away. If I have to boil an atty, I soak it in the PGA to displace the water, reprime and I'm back to fogging. This has worked great for me for at least 8 months.

I think I'll keep on keeping on. I like my old attys just as they are, so no dry burn for me.
