Can we still use 18650's?

I remember when the Prodigy was first available for pre-order, it seemed that it was compatible with 18650 batteries as well as the RCR123a's. Something changed, though, and I'm just not sure if the Prodigy's currently being shipped can use 18650 rechargeable batteries?

Can the current run of Prodigy V1 still use 18650's? If so, what are the best ones to get?

I asked the same question. The answer is that the resistor in the switch will take the 3.7v output of the 18650 and reduce it, just as it reduces the output of the RCR123 from 6v to 5v.

Steve plans on offering a range of additional switches for the Prodigy that will allow different voltage levels ranging from 3.7 up to 6v, but the current switch is dialed for 5v only.

I'm using Spiderfire 18650s in my 901 PD with resistor. I think Steve said it drops it by about .5

I went out with a regular 510 setup the other day and I didn't think it was as good, but my batts are older. The Spiderfires are new. I'm ordering some new 510 batts on Mon so hopefully on the occasions I do need them it will be less of a difference.

If I didn't need to use reg e-cigs sometimes I would probably run the 5V all the time. I only need about 2sec draws with 5V on the 901. With the 18650s its 5-6 seconds. I'll be ordering the unregulated switch when it's available so I can probably get a couple days out of 1 batt.
