Can you describe what a dry hit or failing/bad coil tastes like?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it, but with an 80% VG liquid the nautilus mini might not be able to wick that efficiently enough.

Oh, this is an 80 vg juice. Ok, I was going to ask if you were using NT Virus. Because Virus changes taste hourly, lol! Your juice may as well, if its similar. With Virus, its like the proverbial box of chocolates...you never know what you're going to get. That's probably why I never get tired of it.

Dry hit = what they said. You take a dry hit...you definitely know it...you won't hit it again until you do something about it.

Bad coil = if flavor becomes a muddled dirty(ish) taste and vapor production drops..then it's time to take a look at wick/coil.

To me, it's like accidentally inhaling the paper from lighting a bonfire. Just foul!

The picture posted previously sums it up, for both me, and the S.O... Then the question always arise "Dry hit?", followed by the evil eye..

As you get used to vaping and your setup you'll learn the warning signs, and it gives a perfect opportunity to take a moment to appreciate the fact that you're not smoking. And then keep buggering on..

@Utsuru - first of all, congrats on being one of the runners-up!!!!

You didn't mention at what power/voltage level you were running your iClear 30. The higher VG may have a bit more difficulty wicking through the longer "spider wicks" of the 30. I personally gave up on top-coil tanks because they were too warm and tended to burn more to me.

Dry hit to me is a lot like breathing in scorched air (not that I've had that actual experience, but day-um, it's nasty.)

A dry hit to me is similar in the throat as is burping up acid from your stomach, except it doesn't last as long in your throat. An acid burp might burn in your throat for several minutes or more, where as a dry hit only lasts for a few seconds burning in my throat. Either way, they're both nasty in the throat.

A bad coil to me is when the coil can no longer wick up enough juice so you get the same dry hit effect. When a coil has not fully failed to me, it can still suck up juice so it just gets less flavorful but it's not until the wicking action can't keep up with the way that I vape that I notice the total failure of the coil.

Just a quick update before this thread fades off into the ether, I figured I would share what was actually going on with the funky taste.

It was a combination of various things:

• Getting way too accustomed to the same flavor
• A bit too much nicotine
• Varying degrees of "vaper's tongue"
• Having the airflow too open on the Naut Mini, to where it wouldn't pull the high VG juice into the wicks, causing semi-dry hits
• Something I can't remember

So there you have it folks. It wasn't the Nautilus Mini, it was my ignorance.
