Hey everyone. I am new to variable voltage vaping, and have been vaping a few menthol flavors with various attys and cartos. Suddenly today I have felt my mouth getting a bit more dry feeling than usual, so I have been drinking lots of water. But along with this, came a sudden bad taste. I thought hmm, maybe its this atty, switched to a diff one, and same thing. Then thought for sure it was maybe something up with the juice, switched to a dif brand menthol, and same bad taste. Its not a strong bad taste, but its almost like the juices have much less flavor, and have this dryish blaaah taste. Could it be that my taste buds have temporarily dried out? This is really puzzling me as all my juices are no longer enjoyable. Any suggestions or thoughts on this?

I went through a short period (couple days) where I couldn't taste anything. It was very weird but I read here on the board that it's pretty common. I don't vape VV - lucky you! so I can't say if that has anything to do with it. I do notice the juice taste different to me with different types of carts. For example some of my juice tastes muted in a dual coil carto.

nhaler has high voltage juice. I wonder if something like that would help?

That's terrible, I haven't heard of that before. My thought is to turn the voltage down. There was deffinately a learning curve for me when I got my VV mod. It was always too dry, too wet or the sugars kept burning in my juice and I found that not all flavors are good past 4 1/2 volts. Good luck and post if you figure this out.

Taste buds don't "dry out", but they are regenerated every couple of weeks or so. I think that we all go through "flavor cycling" where no matter what we vape, it all tastes off or seems to have no taste at all. It does go away after a few days. You can try brushing your tongue, eating some crusty bread or vaping very strong menthol or cinnamon flavors and see if that helps. You might also want to drink more water, as dehydration can increase the sensation of no taste.

I have been using the variable voltage Provari for almost a month now. I loved it, and whenever I have juices that have a strong or weak flavor, I adjust accordingly. I had thought to had mastered this thing for weeks now, but suddenly all my flavors taste flavorless (not completely), and had a strange taste to it. As I went through so many different ohm attys, and style cartos, I got the same results, even with different brand juices. I don't know what could be going on. Its making me not want to vape much at all today =(. It started happening to me yesterday, but then this morning when I woke up, I totally forgot about it as everything seemed normal and routine. I just hope that this is not something that is going to occur on a frequent basis.

I had bad legions in the roof of my mouth, on the inhale line going all the way down my throat onto the hanging thingy. They gave me pulsating headaches, earaches, gumaches, all in harmony with each other. I couldnt even eat, it was TERRIBLE! It kept me home from work for 3 days. It hurt just to talk. I thought it was something really serious because of the tremendous amounts of pain. Went to 3 different docs, one was a dentist. None could say for sure what it was but all advised on a specialist. Finally got an apt with an e.n.t, and he said it was from quitting smoking. That they are deep pallette cankersoares caused by mucus levels in your mouth and throat being much different due to quitting such a long analog smoking run.

It went away after about a week, but then a few days ago, I got another one, but this time it was inside the under part of my lip. Like if you pull your bottom lip over and down, you see that small string. Its right on that thing. Its REALLY painful also, but dealable as it does not come into contact with much. I just hope all this is not a result of vaping. I do not even vape much compared to 80% of others =(. Though, the ENT said he did not believe it was due to the ecig. All this weird stuff with my mouth is worrying me. Hopefully someone else has experienced this loss of taste with an added twist of yuck on all my juices and attys/cartos.

I have extreme dry mouth, period. But, that is because of medication I have to take. When I started with the e-cig, it got even worse. Have you thought about sugarfree gum or sugarfree candy....or not sugarfree....it's up to you. Is it your taste buds or does your tongue hurt. Certain anti-biotics can 'uncoat' your tongue and that is VERY unpleasant, to say the least. That is when I have to eat yogart until I'm finished with the anti-biotics.

Don't give up, NautB. There could be a reasonable explanation or no explanation. It just may pass within a few days. When I first started, my e-toke and th wasn't great, but it was better than putting tobacco smoke in my lungs. Regardless, I hope it passes and Welcome to the board!:)

1. Foods, hot drinks, alcohol can dull flavor. I find ice water can refresh my mouth. Switching to a contrasting flavor can help too. Worst thing is (for example) you vape a very sweet flavor then switch to a delicately sweet one - you won't taste the sweetness in the second at all. I try to alternate between non-sweet and sweet contrasting flavors.

2. Aroma of the vapor is very very important to get the flavor. Blow your nose. Remember to let your nose have some of the vapor. Fans and wind can screw up flavor by blowing the aroma away from your face.

3. Sometimes it is the atty needing to be blown-out or cleaned. Sometimes it may be the battery is getting weak near end of charge. Sometimes you just can't figure it out so find some other juices that works fro you for now.

yea I thought of all those things, but I have a clear nose, on no meds, I only really vape menthol, but different brands taste very different. And right now, they all have this same blaah taste to it, no matter what carto or atty I use with which brand juice. This happened yesterday, and went away this morning. Just trying to see if anyone else has experienced this. Hoping its my tastebuds needing to build tolerance to frequent vaping, and will go away for good by tomorrow, but I doube it lol.

Yes. It's necessary to have them changed every 3000 miles.

I can tell when my vaping session is over when it starts tasting bad or tastes like nothing. Just like I knew I'd had enough when smoking analogs. The cig would start to taste like hell when I'd had enough. I just figure it's my body's way of letting me know I've hit my nicotine limit.

Wow! I am so sorry to hear that. OMG, that must have been painful! Maybe post in the Health Section or Ask the Experts section?

Hope it gets better!

Maybe you should try that juce that Cignot carries, I think it's called EchoPure or something like that. It's suppost to be very good juice with not a lot of ingredients.

I was going to order that for my Mom because when she started vaping she had sores on her tongue and someone told me about it. Before I was able to it cleared up, but that might be worth a shot.

Like you, menthol is my go to vape(EC Menthol Tobacco from The Vapor Room) but I've discovered that every so often it just isn't the same. That's when i switch to fruit flavor or a bakery flavor for a dripping session or two. Seems to bring the regular back in line.

And, not to hijack the thread but it also seems to me like flavored vape/food combos are really amazing. I vaped some watermelon the other night after eating some and felt like I should make a donation to my church.

As long as it isn't a medical issue, i suspect it will go away soon. Good luck.

That happened to me about a month into vaping. I lowered my nicotine level and started drinking A LOT of water. After about a week it went away and hasn't come back. My tongue was sore and I had a bad taste. Most have said that they have experienced the same in various degrees. Hopefully it will go away in a few days.

Sewedish thanks for your hopes, this new one under my bottom lip just won't seem to go away. It's weird that I am hearing more and more people telling me that they had gotten sores a certain amount of time into vaping. My uncle tried the e-cig, and got soares on the roof of his mouth also. But its hard to tell if its from NOT somking cigs like the doctor said, or if its something caused by excessive vaping, and not enough liquids (most likely in the beginning as your body has not "adjusted" to it yet.) Its very hard to call.

BB3, I did try to go with a more fruity vapor, and more pure one as swedish suggested, by going with the strawberry cheesecake ProJuice from ProVapor. I had not tried anything besides coffee, and menthol, and I liked them both, but this was NASTY. I don't know, it is very strong, and harsh. Even if I try vaping it on a very low voltage. Maybe someone can recommend where to get another good coffee flavor (my coffee was a prefilled GreenSmoke cart, now I only use Provari), or a fruity flavor that is not really nauseating. Has anyone else tried that strawberry cheescake before? Uggghhhh, what a waste of 20 bucks.

Dormouse is right on about fans and wind. I have found that vaping outside destroys 90% of the taste if there is the slightest wind. Sometimes I vape at my desk and I have to turn off my ceiling fan there to enjoy it.

As for myself I also find that my favorite flavor goes tasteless periodically. I usually switch to a strong menthol for a few days and it comes back.

For the same reason I have never found a carto I can use. Every one has a slight "cottony" taste to me that kills the flavor. So I am stuck with carts which are the only way I have been able to coax the taste buds back from time to time.

I know for me when I lose some or most of the flavor, I'll do as others suggested and switch to a different flavor. I prefer tobacco flavors, so a switch between them and something like peppermint works like a charm. Oh, and when my mouth does get a bit too dry for my liking I'll usually head for a nice cold glass of filtered ice water.

Tobacco flavors? They have like tobacco flavored flavors? If so, do they have a tobacco flavored menthol?

I took that trip to the mall today, and get this, for a 10ml bottle of juice, it was 26.06!!!! I told the guy he was out of his mind.

Went to my local smoke shop and he didn't have anymore menthol, so I got mocha. I finally found a different flavor I like. And you guys were right, after changing over to something different, the next day when going back to menthol, the flavoring was much better. It was good to hear from Liberty that when he keeps vaping his favorite flavor, he looses alot of taste with it after a while. Thought something was going wrong with my mouth as I have been getting these painful ... cankersoares.

For some reason, I tend to believe the symptoms are attached to quitting smoking, not to the E-Cig.

Maybe do some 'net research on quitting smoking symptoms, minus anything e-cig related, as in people who just quit cold turkey also suffer those kinds of things.

If so, then I can understand how hot vape may aggravate the situation, but isn't necessarily related.

If that be the case, just look at it as your body healing itself, and can take a loooong time and have any one of many different symptoms.

Had the same problem with the taste bud issue when I first started vaping as
well as a kind of numb feeling on my tongue and mouth dryness
Switched to VG (10ml bottle) and by the time that was gone, the problem had gone away.
Since then, I can vape PG , VG or 70/30 blend ( which I prefer ) with no problems at all. The whole problem took about a week to go away.
