the tastebuds on your tongue ONLY sense sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami. That's it. Your taste buds only respond to molecules and ions called tastants. Everything is is detected by your sense of smell. You taste with your nose.

We Also acclimate to smells over time (like how a farmer doesn't really notice the smell of manure all around him). That's why it's a good idea to cycle juices, or even vape plain VG to cleanse your palate. It always bugs me when people blame their "taste buds" for not tasting their juice when it's actually their nose (even an inner ear infection can alter your taste perception).

I encountered the "taste acclimation" waaay back when I first started smoking a hookah over a decade ago, and the simple fix was switch flavors or expose yourself to a different constant smell, like lighting an aromatic candle.

I can tell when my vaping session is over when it starts tasting bad or tastes like nothing. Just like I knew I'd had enough when smoking analogs. The cig would start to taste like hell when I'd had enough. I just figure it's my body's way of letting me know I've hit my nicotine limit.

I had the same experience with analogs...I'm also noticing that with vaping, I seem to get a great flavor with the carto's versus attys...which seems strange. Someone told me in another thread that it was more than likely the short period of time I have been off analogs and eventually it will get better. Even said that happened to him and he found some of his go to flavors when he started have turned to "how in the world did I vape that?" ...guess it's the natural healing the body does...but I sure hope the blah tastes go away soon...I dig the juices I've been vaping and want to taste them full on!!

Biotene dry-mouth mouthwash sure helped me when everthing I vaped tasted weird. I thought I forgot how to vape. It's kind of scary the first time it happens. Eating a cracker helped. I haven't had the issue since I started using Biotene. Sold at the big box stores. My dentist recommends it (the kind that helps with plaque along with dry mouth). Wishing you well.

Funny you mention Biotene as I picked up the mouth spray a few weeks ago which certainly helps with dry mouth.

I really do not know what is going on lately. My mouth dries out VERY quick when vaping. It did not always react this way, only within the past few weeks. I am hoping this all resolves itself in the upcoming weeks.
