Hi, I finally joined after doing a couple of days reading and looking at all kinds of reviews elsewhere. I'm only finding out now that Canada has a ban on Nicotine in the juices? Good god. How terribly stupid. It's okay to smoke disgusting cigarettes and buy them just about anywhere but, we can't use e cigs with nic levels in them? I want to quit smoking *again* and this looks like a great way down that road. A friend of mine in NYC just quit using this method and hasn't smoked a cigarette in over three months.

Anyway, I'm looking for suppliers soon and ordering my first ecig kit. I will most certainly NEED nicotine in it or it ain't gonna work for me no way, no how.

Thanks for letting me know! I think this is a great way to totally step down and stop smoking and I'm going to try it despite any silly ban. It's my life we're talking about here. I signed the petition too though I might be somewhat late into that game. I also love the idea that there are numerous flavors since that can break you away from the straight cigarette taste too. I'm wondering what on earth the government has a problem with here. Gum did not work for me, made me nauseous too. Tried Chantix and was looney toons for the entire eight weeks they told me to "try" it before giving up. As in no sleep, I could not rest and by the end of that eight weeks I was a blithering idiot. Called the hotline and the "nurse" told me to get off of that ASAP. Did quit for six months but, got around a bunch of smokers for several weeks while doing hospice for my mother...started right back smoking. If I had something like this to use instead I know I would have stayed quit.

Again, thanks for the info. I am really excited to start trying this!

You're very welcome. The support here at ECF is outta this world. I smoked 40+ yrs and this has been an incredible and life changing experience and so easy. There are so many choices out there in regards to PVs. How many anlogs did you smoke and what brand? And how much did you want to spend? We're good at spending other people's $$ :D

I was smoking *am* about a pack and a half of Export A extra light *as if they are really light* a day! I quit last winter cold turkey because I was in the hospital for something else for about a week and so could not smoke. When I got home, I decided just to not start back but, that only lasted six weeks until I had to consistently be around smokers. I am an addict for sure when it comes to smoking but, I'm ready to do this and I don't really think stepping down nicotine intake this way is going to be NEARLY as harmful as smoking has been. I also have another motivation...we're renovating and I do NOT want my "new" reno to smell like cigarettes after all this work and money. E cigs will work. I just know it.

Oh, and thanks for the "eh" thing to the person above. I'm dual though and so can't lay any real claim to the language enhancements usually assigned to us here in Canada. :D

As for what I'd like to spend. I'm actually not worried too much about costs right now as with what I'm spending on cigarettes I could probably have bought another house in the last few years. Ridiculous! So if this is somewhat pricey getting going, so be it.

Welcome to ECF RADFREE :). Yeah the HC ban on e-juice makes no sense at all but like all of us here, you'll find a way around it (for now).

You're going to find that ecigs are the way to quit smoking painlessly. I had my last analogue in April and haven't touched one since, nor have I wanted to, and that's after a lifetime of smoking! Once you get started the trick is to find a couple of juices that you love. Best bet is to get some sampler packs and try them out before you commit.

Best of luck:)

Hi there Radfree and welcome to ECF! The info here can be a little overwhelming but stick around, ask questions and you'll be on your way in no time! BTW, I managed to kick a 30+ year habit by day 3 (and like you, had tried the *recommended* alternatives without success), so like everyone else says, these work if you're motivated!

PS.There IS a learning curve, but it's relatively painless!

I know there is a learning curve as I feel like a babe in the woods here but, there's a ton to learn and I don't mind. It's too bad there wasn't a learning curve with cigarettes when I started, maybe I never would've got going on them to begin with. I'm motivated though! You say you had tried the recommended alternatives? Boy, those are awful and I'm glad they worked for some people but, for me they were just disgusting, not to mention dangerous. I really don't think ANYONE should go on Chantix. Crazy how that's legal to put people on still but, this is banned. I know full well this won't be perfect or exactly like smoking cigarettes. I don't need it to be. Just a reasonable something I can do with my hands while stepping down the nictotine is fine with me. Man, there's a lot of reading to do here! Good thing I love research!

The selection you'll find in Canada is not too great in regards to PVs. Doesn't seem to be a problem ordering hardware from the U.S and lottsa selection and cheaper prices. It's recommended you use th ECF listed vendors because they operate here under strict code of ethics and if they don't give good service members will call them out. Some vendors have been removed because of their lack of ethics. When you've decided on PV look for discount codes and sales- anywhere from 10- 35% off. Most start with an eGo or Riva and then after awhile they graduate to a Mod. I went straight to a Mod because I desperately wanted this to work and I know it was the right choice. You could also choose a lower end Mod such as the E-Power
or
the Lavatube Lava Tube Variable Voltage Regulated PV
In Canada JUGHEADS.co We've Got the Vapors ! has some very high quality and reasonably priced juice- nice guy and have never ever heard of any customer dissatisfaction.
Good Luck, Vapoor.
Good Luck

Thanks for the advice! I don't think I want to start with one of the look alike to ciggie types. Reason? I'm trying to quit and the least I can do is give up the look of a cigarette to begin with. Maybe, having a smaller one for when I have to be moving around alot as a back up would be good. I am almost thinking of getting two. One small one and a longer battery life one. Reason? Sometimes, I have to be really mobile and I can't use something too heavy to carry round but, at other times I'm working at a desk and it totally doesn't matter. Also, I don't think the ones that mimic looking like cigarettes are going to be very acceptable out in public so something that looks different will work better for that.

I looked at Jugheads earlier and it says they are are zero nicotine right? Might use them for some flavors to try but, no way off the bat would that work for me. I guess we don't have a lot of choice here as to flavors etc. I definately care about quality though as I don't want to substitute putting one horrible thing into my lungs for another. Probably will lean more VG too as I have allergies to a lot of things and bet a dime I will have some issues with PG...Thanks again for your help! This is a lot of over whelming info but, it's fun learning about it and that's part of the process of quitting for me too!

You're welcome. I chose the Megalodon because it's quality and is a 2 in 1 PV- larger one the battery lasts about 24 hours approx and then it breaks down to a smaller stealth mod. Re: Jugheads- go to Jugheads and scroll to bottom of page-3 different categories of juices-
Go To Flavours Page, Go To Xtreme Flavours Page, Go To HALO Flavours Page
Concentrate= Nic content and is 12- 36 mg. Check his clearance section- sold out of some
Have to go right now but I'll look for some possible PVs for you.
Good Luck, Vapoor.

Hey a newbie to forums here as well. Although I have already placed an order for a new ecig yesterday with canadianelectronicsvapor.com which was listed in the forums, just to let you know they had gotten back to me within hours to let me know it will be shipped out on the 2nd. So hopefully next week I'll have it.

As for the Ejuice I'm still searching on answers on that one, thankfully i still have some left from my last ecig attempt. Which unfortnately wasn't a good product and discouraged me off them for a bit, 3x units failed after a month. This time did a bit more research and ordered the JoyE Ego tank, which i'm hoping is superior to the last one i had. But like you i need to find over 0 nic as that won't work for my hubby or I, and what i have from my last attempt might last me at least a couple months i hope..lol.

Well, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one going down this road today! I am totally LOST about this process though. Still reading on what I need to get or not. Getting some good ideas here for sure.

So you are saying the Megaladon, can be broken down into a smaller unit for when you are out and about and don't want such a large PV? That's great! I'm going to look into that!

Yes it breaks up into a smaller PV. I agree with Grimmgreem in the review above that the draw is somewhat stiffer than other Mods. If I had to do it over again, without the PVs I presently have, I'd prolly buy a Lavatube VV (weren't available when I started) Lavatube lavatube variable voltage personal vaporizer vv pv
Canvape is a highly regarded Cdn ECF listed Supplier and the owner is highly respected here at ECF.

The Riva is also a nice reasonably priced Starter Kit
eGo Riva 1100mAh - Black or Stainless Steel

And here is a Mod Database- click on bar for diff types of Mods-tube, box, etc

Good Luck, Vapoor.

Got a ton of help today from Canvape. Tom was great! Ordered some sample flavors too so in a few days I hope I will be good to get going here. Can't wait! All told spent about oh, roughly one hundred twenty including e cig, and juice but, out of that I got my PV, one thirty mil, of just a Canadian tobacco flavour at 18. Plus, about four ten mil samples, at various strengths from twelve to twenty four and that way I can see where I'm at and where I need to begin. Plus, I won't run out anytime soon. I must say, I don't think getting into this is that expensive. Shipping and handling on some of the juice sites is high for what the weight of the packages must be so next time I'm in T.O. or a larger place I'm going to be looking for a brick and mortar and stocking up! I know I will probably order more as far as PV's go later on but, for now I'm good to begin.

Looking right now at my last pack of smokes I hope.
