regarding radiation and tobacco:

The radiation is real, it's caused by the fertilizer they use (Potassium-40). Here's some more info though... it seems the real danger is not the radiation but the smoking of tobacco:
http://www.ead.anl.gov/pub/doc/potassium.pdf
Fertilizer
Radioactive Polonium in Tobacco
quote:
"From the results of the same study, when a non-smoker is exposed to radon concentrations of 0, 100 and 400 Bq/m3, the risk of lung cancer by age 75 years will be about 4, 5 and 7 in a 1000, respectively. However, for those who smoke, the risk of lung cancer is about 25 times greater, namely 100, 120 and 160 in a 1000, respectively. Most of the radon-induced lung cancer cases occur among smokers."

FWIW, bananas (high in Potassium) will also set off a radiation detector -- many fruits naturally contain radiation too (and some veggies contain nicotine. It's no wonder we are addicted, we just like our fruits and veggies!).

Everything has some radiation - it is all about levels and repeat exposure. We are constantly irradiated by the Sun unless we stay in lead lined rooms.

In tobacco cigarette, nicotine is still the main addition but there is still others?

Water is extremely dangerous! Here's a website devoted to banning it:

Dihydrogen Monoxide Research Division - dihydrogen monoxide info

quote:

"Most of these deaths are caused by accidental inhalation of DHMO, but the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide do not end there. Prolonged exposure to its solid form causes severe tissue damage. Symptoms of DHMO ingestion can include excessive sweating and urination, and possibly a bloated feeling, nausea, vomiting and body electrolyte imbalance. For those who have become dependent, DHMO withdrawal means certain death."

That's a pretty slick site.
Got any more of those?

I vaped with an e-cig once and then a few hours later I got attacked by a fricken bear. Might be completely unrelated to e-cig use but it's something to think about~~!

Thats weird...I had a similar experience but it wasnt a bear...I was attacked by a raccoon!!

Anyways i am new here but i have decided to add my really quick two cents. As for the radiation it seems to come from the tobacco leaves not the extracted nicotine. So the fact that we do not burn tobacco leaves in out daily vaping experience i find it rather likely that we are not getting a heavy dose of said radiation. I also did read every report that was provided. Most of the were seriously outdate with there information. And the ones that were not again stated the fact that it was the tabacco leaves that contain the radiation.

Speaking of animals - my cats always hated smoke and yet my current cat - Scooter will put his head in the vapor - I use VG which is cat friendly. THAT surprised me when he first did it.

I really don't have the time to read this entire thread. To the OP: Nothing is completely safe. Even water, without which we would die, is lethal in large enough doses. I choose to vape instead of smoke knowing it is new and there are no long-term studies on it. IMO, it's worlds better than inhaling tar, carbon monoxide, and the thousand other nasties in an analog.

That is too funny! I'm gonna post a link to that site on Facebook and see how many of my "ban everything" friends fall for it. Some people just want to control everything and tell everyone what to do. Life is too short to be so darned paranoid all the time. We all have to die from something eventually. We should just enjoy what time we have and not be so serious.

Now, maybe my articles I linked to are completely biased and not relevant to anything you're doing but there are big scary words in there! Be afraid! Spread panic to the masses. The only safe water is water from your own body purified in a home made waterworld-esqe purifier! I use the Costner Urinemaster!

That is priceless.
