As most of us know, quitting smoking can do all sorts of nasty things to our bodies, and mouth sores happen to be one of those things. I have canker sores or whatever they are on my tongue, one happens to be right on the very tip and it hurts like you would not believe. I have tried canker sore meds from walmart to no avail, and I have tried sticking the tip of my tongue in salt...that was a stupid move lol. I am desperate to try and get rid of these things, so I was wondering if anyone here had any type of home remedy to either get rid of them quicker, or numb them at the very least?

No salt please....been down that road, and really don't want to do it again lol.

I called and asked my doctor and he told me to pretty much deal until they are gone, but I have had these darned things long enough(3 days). Any help is very much appreciated, and at this point I'm willing to try just about anything, except salt.

I just use a salt wash when I get canker sores. I haven't had them since I was a kid and started getting them when I started vaping over 2.5 years ago. I find that PG high juices seem to trigger them for me. Had them really bad once and have since switched my juices to high or 100% VG. Seems to be working and I haven't had one in a while now. Good luck.

I picked up the orajel extra strength stuff and not only does it taste disgusting lol but it burns like a beast! It has given me temporary relief, and I have been using a salt water rinse every few hours to help dry it out. I get them here and there, especially if I eat salty foods, and I have been munching on popcorn every night for a week, so it doesn't help any. I don't use a high PG percentage, I vape a 80%-20% VG/PG, since I can't handle a lot of TH either. I also noticed the PG higher juices dehydrate me a lot faster as well, so I try not to vape a high PG percentage. I will keep using the orajel, and salt water rinses to see if it helps any. I'm hoping they go away soon, or at least the one on the very tip of my tongue goes away since that one hurts the most.

Kanker sores are also called aphthous ulcers and they are usually self limiting within 2 weeks - to get relief I usually laser these for my patients which makes them go away in 2 days because my surgical laser will cauterize the tissue. i also prescribe a home remedy which a compounding pharmacist will make for my patients - it works really well but tastes nasty - it's called magic mouthwash

- the only non prescription items on the list are diphenhydramine (Benadryl liquid) and maalox - take 1tsp of each mix and rinse and spit

You can forward the info below to your dentist or physician to see if they will have this made by a compounding pharmacy otherwise do what I said above

GOOD LUCK

The most popular formulation of magic mouthwash contains viscous lidocaine as a topical anesthetic, diphenhydramine as an anti-inflammatory, and Maalox to help coat the tissues in the mouth. Other formulations include antifungals, corticosteroids and/or antibiotics.

Common ingredients include:
Diphenhydramine - an antihistamine to reduce inflammation - Benadryl
Glucocorticoids - to reduce inflammation - prescription only
Lidocaine - a local anesthetic to relieve pain -
Maalox - an antacid formulation which acts as a coating agent
Nystatin- an antifungal for candidiasis
Sucralfate - a coating agent
Tetracycline - an antibiotic
Erythromycin- an antibiotic
