What type of liquid have you been vaping. All pg or vg / or a combination. You may be having a reaction to either the pg or vg.

If you are vaping eliquid with all pg...then you might want to add some vg to your juice or try an all vg liquid....and vice versa if you are vaping all vg.

Buttermilk is a good remedy for canker sores....swish it around in your mouth several times a day...( i hate buttermilk, but that was a remedy my grandmother used years ago )

Hi Paula. Before I switched to Swedish snus I vaped a lot of very high mg eliquid and had a pretty sore tongue (and mouth) most of the time. Didn't have anything to do with PG or VG or flavors. Not to say they can't be the cause, especially if you've recently switched from something different. If it is the nic mg or the amount being vaped, I'm afraid your only remedy is to reduce one or both :(.

I haven't changed juice or strength. I have been vaping since Jan 4th, same stuff, same strength, so I really can't blame it on Vaping I guess.... but DAMMMMMMMMMM if it doesn't hurt... and thanks for the buttermilk trick, but I don't think I could stomach that... thinking about holding curdled milk in my mounth makes me want to hurl....any other suggestions?

I find that although painful...a tongue scraper helps to make my tongue feel better if i get sores on it. I tend to get them on the side of my tongue for some reason. Also at times I'll pull a pin out and scrape it...I'm sure everyone will tell me that it's not a good thing to do, but it works every time. I do it before I go to sleep and usually the next day it feels so much better.

I've always done the same thing with my gums...when they hurt...brush the crap out of them...usually that (what I call a home deep cleaning) hurts like a B when i do it, but always feels better the next day.

hth,
Maureen

Hmmm. When I very first started vaping, I got several canker sores also. However, that was due to "over vaping" and I wasn't even doing it correctly in the first place (LOL).

What helped me with my canker sores was to use ICE or ICE CREAM... Heck, I even froze some yogurt (go-gurt kiddie snack sticks) and made use of that. Hold the ice/ice cream on the sore(s) until it melts. You not only get some relief, but it also tastes good. I believe that the "icing" helped them to heal quicker.

Good thread... Happy vaping! :)

I broke out with a cold sore due to bad refil technique on carts i think, too much juice in the mouth--major irritant.

Lysine is an amino acid. Available in most pharmacy health food type places.

Reason being if these are "cold sore" cankers lysine acts to block arginine. herpes is the virus that causes cold sores --doesn't mean you have a venereal disease. check out various health sites by looking at
"lysine arginine ratio" on google
excerpt from
Lysine and Arginine Food Chart.

Lysine has proven to be effective in viral related diseases, especially that of herpes simplex. The effect is greater if the diet is low in arginine. It is thought that because lysine is structurally similar to the virus, it is absorbed into the virus instead of arginine, the amino acid the virus feeds upon. During a herpes episode, it is recommended that a minimum of 1500 mg. of lysine, plus a minimum of 1 gram of Vitamin C with bioflavonoids, should be taken throughout the day, keeping in mind that the dietary arginine must be kept low.
The following major food sources contain a high arginine to lysine ratio and, therefore, should be avoided during a herpes eruption: gelatin, chocolate, carob, coconut, oats, wholewheat and white flour, peanuts, soybeans, and wheatgerm. Conversely, the major food sources containing a high lysine to arginine ration are: fish, chicken, beef, lamb, milk, cheese, beans, brewers yeast, and mung bean sprouts. Most fruits and vegetables also have a lysine ratio over arginine, with the exception of peas. Lysine is lacking in cereal proteins.

OaklandCA, you are so right.

I have herbs simplex. I get it in my left eye. Is almost blind to it. I get it in the mouth, throat and stomach. After I started taking L-Lysine 1000mg daily and 3000mg, when I feel that an outbreak is underway, I have not had a serious outbreak in the eye.
