Canon camera (or similar) batteries usable for mods?

Hi folks. I have a question that I hope you mod wizards can answer:

I have dozens of these Canon DB-BP511 lying around (I'm a photographer)



On the casing, its says 7.4V 1500mah After some further research, the manufacturer says its fully protected against overcharge, undercharge, short circuit etc.

So far so good for modding purposes, I'm thinking.

Am I correct in this assumption?

If they're really protected, I'd say go for it, dude!
You'll need either voltage regulation or high resistance coils, though.

It would depend on the amp limits. If it's protected for anything over, say, 2amps, you're S.O.L.

Perfect if you add a switching regulator. Should be good for 3A if they're 1500mAh. Go for it.

camera batteries are, generally, high drain capable, and brand ones well protected, i'd guess your batteries are excelent for modding
