Can't Believe Cruise Lines Putting Vaping Into Same Category As Smoking!

We are going on a Celebrity cruise in October and have a balcony with our cabin and just learned I can't even vape on my balcony or in my cabin as the ship's smoking policy puts e-cigs in the same category as analogs. Do you think the smoke alarm in the cabin will go off with my ego-c twist and a vivi nova tank -- they certainly will not smell it!!! I must admit that I'm a little embarassed walking around vaping with something that looks nothing like an analog -- *I know I shouldn't be and am very proud of not smoking since the very first day I tried vaping (analog free since February) but when some people see my "setup" they tend to think its something illegal.

This is my first post but have been reading the forum daily and love the fact that people are so helpful and friendly.

Stuff like this is what happens when you have clowns making it onto the media after their modified e-cig blows up in their face, or making a huge scene and throwing a fit like a 12 year old girl on an airplane.

It's not fair, but more often than not proprietors only know what they hear on the media, and form their opinions around it.

Think about it,even if its not harmfull, even if it doesnt smell...people that dont smoke or vape dont want to have anything they can see circulating toward their faces.

Its protection instinct.

Something that bothers me is why do we claim its only water vapor when the vapor from the water I boil rises maybe 2 feet then disapear yet we can fog a room with our e-juice

Push aside the breathing techniques and how long you hold it,its not a way to vape...its stays and lingers,so people dont want that around them.

I understand.

Sadly this is the way with some cruise lines. I sail Princess line this is their policy on e cigs. I have not had any problems on board. If you are discreet, they tend to leave you alone.

From Princess latest Smoking Policy.

Electronic Cigarettes
The use of electronic cigarettes is permitted in all areas onboard with the exception of dining areas and the Princess Theater. However, should a fellow passenger in the vicinity feel inconvenienced and complain, even after being told the difference between electronic cigarettes and real cigarettes, we will ask the passenger to refrain from smoking the electronic cigarette.

I think you would be safe to use your e cig in your room, if by any chance the smoke alarm does go off, quickly open the bathroom door and turn the shower on they will think its the steam from there that has set it off, as this is known to happen sometimes.

I think Princess's policy is a reasonable.

The one in the OP is not. If you vape on the balcony who's going to see you or who would it bother? That is a policy I don't understand.

I can't see how vaping somehow makes me a privileged person, and the choice of whether to vape or not is a matter of common courtesy. We have been our own worse enemy in many cases, and these bans on vaping are often the result our behaviors. So don't blame the cruse line for the ban, blame the persons responsible ......... US

Cruise lines seem to be full of the anti-smoking brigade, that is why smoking was banned on balconies, if you are caught breaking the smoking rules on Princess line you are fined $250 every time. Not worth the risk IMO.

I have also used, "I don't smoke and I refuse to go to the smoking area as it is a danger to my health" a few times, that usually stops the complaints when I ask if they are prepared to cover my health expenses. I then ask for the Health and Safety Officer to come and give the cruise lines position, on passenger safety and their liability.

I agree, as I stated before be discreet and you will have no problems. No need to blow vapor all over the place, that just brings unwanted attention.
