Hi everyone, I have recently did a lot of researching and asking (here in forums) about stepping into the world of mods. At first, I was so eager to move into mechanical mods right away but all these good people told me that It is that big of a step.

With that being said, i still wanna move up to rebuildables and leave my ego twist/unitank on the side and as my go-to unit. Altho this time, im getting a regulated mod (to be on the safe side) and getting a mechanical mod just to have it by my side when im ready for it.

Reason why I wanna move up to rebuildables is that I dont want to spend too much money on a bunch of clearos and replacement coils because of the number of juices that I have. Second, i dont have the place in my room to put lots of variatons for clearos because i dont want my parents to see them and think im in some kind of a bad habit, i mean vaping is vaping but it still looks like smoking (also nicotine is still present) to the unknowledgeable. Lastly, i want a huge amount of vapor to play with and ego twist cant give me that and it would be more fun to play around with your tools.

Now, can anyone push me to a very good APV ? Im thinking of vamo v5 since it has good reviews.

Choice selection should consider the following:

Price is just at least 50 bucks give or take for a kit or a battery (i look at FT).
Can use rebuildables (nimbus, trident, kayfun, etc)
VV/VW and can read ohm/resistance output (to serve as my ohm meter for mechanical mods in the future)
Has to be a pen/cylinder/baton shape or whatever. I see lots of good reviews about mvp svd etc, but the box shape just doesnt amaze me.

My purpose for this is to serve as my practice before I walk into mechanical mods. Practice my coil building technique and to have a bit of knowledge to estimate stuff like ohms, battery safety etc.

Thanks!

The Vamo would be a decent & affordable regulated mod to start with.

I recommend 30g Kanthal wire to make coils 1.0 - 2.0 ohm (5 - 7 wraps). 400 or 500g stainless steel mesh for wicks if you decide to go that route with a Genesis-style RBA. Rebuildables and supplies

I'll leave you with the following articles that should be helpful resources for your decisions:

Battery Basics for Mods

Deeper Understanding of Mod Batteries

Information Resources for Your First RBA

Always gives a great feedback much appreciated!

If you find a mod you like I would recommend getting into rebuilding pro tank coils with cotton or wick fist.

This will give you a better understanding of how things work and then move to rba and rda.

Finally on to mechs.

I would invest in a cheap multimeter meter from amazon or anywhere. Won't regret it when building and can check if your doing it right.

Most vv mods won't read ohm's below 1.2 and won't fire either below that.

Do leap before you can walk.

Check out the stainless steel sigelei zmax v3 or v5. They are built far better then the vamo. How old are you by the way?

Oh ok, will look more stuff to compare with but as of now, vamo/zmax/sid are my choices. If i get extra money might even go for evic since ive founs someone who sells a kit for $70. And im 19 but Asian so u would understand easier if u have asian friends

I own the Vamo V2 and V3. Also own the Sigelei Zmax v3. My fave is the Zmax cuz the build quality is far superior to the Vamo. Vamo quality is hit and miss and if you buy the Vamo it will either:
- last for close to a yr
- have issues almost immediately/ within the first 2 weeks
- have problems after a couple of months
Be very careful when ordering any APV to make absolutely sure you're getting high quality batts and charger- MANY kits come with very low end batts and charger.

I will buy just the apv itself, planning to get aw imr or mnke imr batteries altho im not sure if i shud go straight to 18650 or just get the lower ones first. And for charger, im planning to get the nitecore/intellicore or something like that. Forgot what its called exactly.

But great feedback and much appreciated! Thanks!

I use a MVP V2.0 that can be had for $39.99 + shipping from 101vape. It's a 2600mah vv/vw and not pwm so you don't get the rattlesnake sound (nice flat output). I really like mine and it comes with an IClear 30 dc clearmizer. It also has a built-in ohm meter.

Yeah i hear quite a lot of good reviews for the itaste stuff, unfortunately the box type mods dont really amaze me when it comes to sleek looks. Thats the main problem thats holding me back against the vtr/mvp.

When the Vamo was released a yr ago it was a GREAT budget buy as there was nothing to compare it to. I also own the MVP 2 and consider it a budget buy but with much higher quality than the Vamo.
As for the charger I own the Nitecore Intellicharger i2 and really like it. In regards to batteries I use the Panasonic CGR18650CH-2250 mah IMR- they are high drain, unprotected (protected batts sometimes interfere with the APV electronics) safe chemistry and a quality product.

Yeah, but the main reason that holds me back from buying the mvp is the box type mod. Not really getting into me. So im looking for a good APV pen style like the vamo, zmax, sid, svd. Would go for evic or stuff in the same level but since i plan on moving to mech mods when im experienced, i dont see the point of getting an expensive APV.

Quick question about the batteries tho, how would i know whether to get protected or unprotected batteries and their type? (18650,18500,18350,etc) i know mech mods highly require protected IMR batteries but not sure about APV.

Probably IMR. except the Evic it's a whole different beast. I've got 2 and only run the Panasonic 3400 mah. Something about the pass through features.
What ever you get. Best advice I can give is to use what the manufacturer suggest. Most will recommend AW IMR's for their electronic APV's.

Before ordering post your list here as maybe we can find a better deal or something that you've missed. Importing batteries is sometimes an issue.. Here's a reputable ECF listed Vendor in Ontario:
https://www.canvape.com/default.asp

As for my list here it goes:

APV - still undecided
Igo-W
Rocket RBA (kayfun clone) Kit
AW IMR batteries (not sure which one)
Nitecore i4 v2 smart charger
0.9mm allen keys (for air holes i suppose)
Tools(small screwdriver, tong/clip)
Butane jet torch
Silica wick
Kanthal wire (not sure about the gauge)
ChiYou clone
Aios - silver pin
ChiYou drip tip

This is the whole thing, for the "not sure" stuff, i just need to do more reading but i wanna decide which APV i want first, that way I can look up stuff/info specifically for that APV instead of going straight to general discussion with a bunch of diff info and get confused. But i have a grasp of the "must-know" stuff.

To anyone who reads this, please feel free to add whatever you think im missing or if you just wanna suggest its fine too but dont forget to QUOTE this post, more organized this way.

Thanks!
