Have only rebuilt clearomizer heads so not familiar with rba's. In regards to wick you may want to look at EkoWool, It's hollow core braided silica and wicks better and doesn't fall apart as easy as silica. Can also be bought with cotton in the center for better wicking but must be careful when dry burning.
Here's a deal site with LOTS of Mechs. Realize if ordering batts or juice there are problems with fasttech and China Post.

My fave is the Zmax cuz the build quality is far superior to the Vamo.

Not to say vamos are great or anything, but I got three dead/buggy Sigeli Vmax's in a row, while my buddies Vamo had no issues the whole time. I got an evic after giving up on Vmax, and the output power was toy/joke compared to his vamo. Experience pushed me into mechs forever.

Some things to think about:
If you are going to try to get into rebuildables, I would go for a genny. Bottom coil RBAs usually require non-res wire in the build which makes it more difficult and has more parts to lay around in your room. This is true of any RBA though, it takes materials and tools, and a workspace to build.
Also, don't let people scare you out of mechanical mods. Just don't be an idiot with them. Get a REAL multimeter, not just some device that can check ohms. A multimeter can check your batteries voltage, and check continuity in your mod, and work on attys that aren't seating right in mods, and a million other things. A multimeter is "the tool" whereas a mod that reads ohms "can do in a pinch". The main thing with mechanical mods is check attys carefully for shorts before firing them, get reputable batteries, and watch the battery charge like a hawk until you have developed a habit system to "feel" when they are probably starting to get low (so you never let them go under 3 volts (or even 3.3 ideally)).
Evic's suck. Some people love them, but my reasons for saying they suck are as follows: 5v max power, light flimsy feel, rattly/dumb wheel for menus, overcomplicated menus, sold based on useless features like puff counters and statistics you won't care about, peppergrinder threads.

I agree all good solid points on the Evic. I still prefer mine over my other china made mods. At least it doesn't sound like a rattle snake when I Vape it.
I normally carry 1 Evic, 1 Provari and a Reo along with another mech. My P+ by super t manufacturing. Then theres my SB which I kicked.
Different strokes for different folks. That's why theirs so many to choose from :)

I didn't notice the OP's price limit. My bad. Sorry.

It's all good, this is not my limit buy preferable price. Altho not willing to spend 80++ on just a battery and 100++ on a kit lol altho ive seen an evic kit being sold for 70 bucks, the link is somewhere in the forum but too bad i couldnt remember.

I got my innokin itaste svd for 37 bucks from fasttech. And have been loving it so far, plus it gave me room to spend a little more getting quality batteries and charger. I was on a pretty tight budget, so I didn't go straight to the top for batteries (AW IMR's), but instead got 2 efest IMR 18650's and a nitecore intellicharger i4 (they didn't have the i2 at the time) from mtbakervapor.com When it comes to batteries, you have to do some research, reading all of baditude's info is a great place to start.

Also meant to add, if you want to get into rebuildables, you might start with rebuilding the coil head in your unitank, instead of getting replacements. It's the same head as the other protanks (well, not the pt3) evods and a couple others. There's tons of videos on youtube and threads about it here.

If you really want to avoid dripping cause of the issue that drippers are not pocket friendly you and do not have a lot of cash I'd go with the Sid like I did cause they are very very good for the price. I got mine today for under $40 shipped. If you are interested in a mechanical dripper I'd look very closely at a Magneto with a kayfun lite or the ihybrid pure REVIEW OF THE IHYBRID PURE ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE - YouTube If you have plenty of $ to drop then I'd get either a Povari with a Fluid Flask or a Nemesis mech mod with a kayfun lite.
