can't find the problem - Carto and Tank

My friend recently got the exact same set up I use, Smoktech Zmax, tank from Ikenvape, 3 ohm cartos from Ikenvape. After experimenting we both set our devices on 8.0 constant power. We are both using my diy juice. Everything works perfectly for me and he keeps burning cartos and quickly getting a tight draw. We've tried a few new ones, there's always a dud here and there, the problem continued. I added a few drops of distilled water to his juice in case it was a little too thick, still burned a new carto. I know he knows how to prime and fill them properly. He's not letting the tank get low. His device is reading the ohms of the carto and not indicating a problem.
Frustrated he filled an old 1.7 ohm carto and put it on without the tank, no problems. Could he have gotten a faulty tank?

Have you tried using one of your cartos that was working fine on your Zmax on his Zmax? Sounds like his voltage reading is wrong. I have a Kmax. A similar device. It burns hotter than the voltage or wattage setting says. At 3.5 volts I get the same burn as my Innokin set at 4.5 volts.

His punched holes in his carto maybe smaller than yours and not letting in enough juice.
