Can't get gennys perfect

So I have two gennys a cobra and aga t+. Everytime I rebuild something is lacking. Usually it's lack of flavor but sometimes I get flavor and no TH. right now my aga has SS rope wick with a mesh "diaper" wrapped to 1.9 ohms. Great in everything except the flavor just isn't there. I'm on my second tank trying to get the wick to break in maybe.

Any ideas of something that might be obviously wrong?

What is the PG/VG Ratio of your juice? You should get better flavor by the second tank but if your flavor is that off initially you could have an issue. I can't comment on the SS rope wick as I have never used one. Do you have any standard SS Mesh lying around that you could make a wick from? Do you prime the coil area of the wick with a few drops of liquid? There's a lot of variables that come into play.

The ratio of my juice generally ranges from 50/50-72/25. It's not that the flavor is off its just absent. The rope is wicking quite well and I have primed the area.

Evey one is different but my suggestion would be to use silica wick instead of mesh or SS rope in your gennies. Mesh just mutes the flavor of certain juices. I don't use it anymore.

I agree, SS Mesh has too much of a break in time for me personaly. I use cotton, ekowool and XC-116 in no particular order. Each one has it's advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage of not using SS is 0 break in time, less chance of hotspots and shorts and the flavor, at least to me, is superior. YMMV.

I actually have silica in my cobra right now. It works alright but nothing stellar IMO. Lately I've been using more cartotanks than anything but I really want these to work because I know there's potential there.

You mentioned 1.9 ohms. What type of device are you using, and if it's a vv or vw device, what voltage?

What is your resistance and what device are you using them on? I remember the vapin Greek saying that he had a difficult time getting into mesh because his favorite juice just didn't taste right with it. So maybe your juice just doesn't taste good with mesh.



Other than that, make sure your wick and coil has complete contact. Make sure there are no parts of the coil that aren't touching the wick.

Contact is good. I've used the aga t on my sigelei 8 but I had rewrapped the coil to 1.9 ohms so I could use it on my provari. I've tried 4.0-4.8v

Even at 4.8 volts, with a 1.9 ohm coil, you're only vaping at a little over 12 watts. That's on the low side for a mesh genesis. Genesis devices like a lot of wattage, particularly with mesh wicks, because of the heat sink factor involved with mesh wicks.
Also, I don't think you mentioned the wire size you're using. But I wouldn't use anything heavier than 30ga. 28ga, which is common with mechanical mods, with sub ohm coils, just doesn't respond quickly on vv/vw devices.
My advice: Use 30ga, and shoot for 1.2 to 1.5 ohms. Set your voltage or wattage so that you're up around 14.5 - 15.0 watts.

I use 30g usually when building a coil for vv/vw. Sometimes 32g depending on what I'm shooting for. 28g I only use for low ohm or sub ohm. I tried kicking up the voltage but no better result.

have you tried other juices with it? i know a few others have mentioned it, but genesis atomizers will make the juice taste substantially different than most other delivery methods. some flavors come out better, and some worse, perhaps the flavor you're using is one of the latter?

I've put unicorn blood, ecto cooler and cherry limeade so far. Ill try something non fruit in it tomorrow.

I'm another that moved away from that style because of flavor issues. Use you drippers as a guide to figure out what you like and then get something that duplicates or at least gets very close to them.

In my use I feel like the heat sink isn't as bad as a full mesh wick. But JD1 I'm pretty much in the same boat. I don't feel like using them much but I hate leaving them without succeeding. I got in on the Russian 91% preorder to move towards a silica build.

I've noticed that when I use rope wick (all the time now) that I get better flavor with sub ohm setups. Right now using ribbon wire as well (.8 I think) so a 2/3 wrap gets everything nice and hot and tastes better than silica.
