I am using a RSST tank and getting an overwhelming plastic taste from it. I am hoping it is just because I didn't wash it well enough before I filled it. I did wash it out with warm water but that was it. The first day I filled it I loved it but after a few days I really started to taste the plastic. Anyone else getting the same thing? It would be nice if they made a glass tank but i doubt that will happen with the shape that it is.

I'm still wondering what that tank is actually made of. Some sites say Polypropylene and some say Polycarbonate. the site I ordered from says pc and when I emailed them about it they said the smok catalog stated pc. with the smokey shade, it looks to be PP. I used carto tanks made of PP for a year and never got any plastic taste.. I got the stale carto taste but never a plastic taste.

There was a post where someone tried to clean his AC9 tank with alcohol which caused etching ---> http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...2000-porous-ceramic-wick-189.html#post9157615

Some juices may contain flavors with small amounts of alcohol. Some DIYers use as much as 25% flavoring. Maybe something worth looking into.

Not sure if the RSST tank is the same, although in some Youtube vids people have claimed them to be identical. PMMA and PP are not the same materials though. Polypropylene is liable to chain degradation from exposure to heat. A genny's top plate (deck) can get quite hot chain vaping and the top of the tank is under pressure in direct contact with it. PP generally melts above 266 F. Chemicals with unknown toxicity form when polypropylene plastic is heated.

I doubt it very much that the material for the rsst is the same as the ac-9. I own both and visually they look different. when the ac-9's tank is full the juice looks very clear, but when the rsst's tank is full it looks cloudy, this tends to make me feel like the plastics are different.

Not sure if this is it, but mine had a heavier coating of manufacturing crap than most things I've ordered. I washed the hell out of mine. First tank tasted a bit off, but it's fine after a second wash.
Also for what it's worth, I wouldn't put any star anise vapes (pluid or similar) in these. Used a non-pluid star anise juice for about 24 hours. No cracking or stress, but the tank did seem cloudier afterwards. I'm not about to test it again until I've got a few backup tanks. Apparently they do citrus just fine.

The seller I bought mine off of advertised the material as polypropylene. I don't know just how many forms polypropylene comes in. I know mine didn't crack with a star anise vape after 24 hours, but it did seem a bit cloudier. I could be wrong, the tank is already pretty cloudy when you get it, and not uniformly so. Might just be over paranoid since this is my only tank atm. All the complaints about the center-post earlier in this are bogus.

Got mine up an running last night with ceramic wick and 4 wrap 28ga kanthal. Works like a dream. Just wish the top cap was fitted tighter. This is Definetly not pocket friendly at all. Anyone ekse have this issue?

Mine fits pretty tight. I can hold the cap with an 18490 provari attached and it isn't close to falling off.

This thing is so easy to set up. I love the insulated wick hole. But it does have some flaws. I can't leave it on it's side for even a few seconds or it will dump it's juice up into the top cap and when I take the cap off to fill it, there's a lot of condensation on the deck and in the top cap. I still really like it but this definitely isn't a device I can take out any where. With my DID, I can slip it down in the sleeve in my purse and as long as it stays mostly upright, it's fine.

Agreed - gets a lot of juice in the top cap.. but i really like it..especially after drilling out the air hole a bit..

I left a full tank on its side all night... 0 leaks...
What are your wick setups? Because I have no issues...

I leave the fill plug in while vaping.
Use 500 SS mesh, wrapped tight around a paperclip. Wick is snug in wick hole.
No dry hits so far, with a 4/3 wrap of 28ga.

Condensation is minimal, and on par with my other genisis tanks.

I'm not getting any of the problems any of you are???

my fill plug is out and my mesh is wrapped pretty loose and fits loose so that would account for my leaking and probably the excess condensation. I'm using 400 and 28g. I'll try your way next time. Thanks for posting this :)

i fixed the leaky connection issue :D

I found a small drop of juice in the 510 connection of my mod, so i investigated....
turns out those ( nylon  ) washers dont do a good job of sealing around the centre positive post.
That thing was soaked.

Rebuilt the RSST, but in between the two white bushings(that keep the positive post isolated), i added two very tiny o-rings to make it a snug fit, and for some extra redundancy, packed in some vaseline between the two o-rings.

No more leaks :D

Tonight.... RSST hybrid setup!
