We are all different. From what you describe, I would say it's more about the juice than the hardware. Some people can't tolerate PG (I've read some posts describing it as you did - throat closing up), some people can't tolerate VG (I personally don't like too much VG - anything above 50% and it makes me cough in addition to the throat hit that has a specific feeling that I dislike). Makes me feel like I'm drowning.

It can also be the flavors they use. Maybe you're allergic to something in there. Or the quality of the PG or VG. Could be a lot of things.

So instead of trying every vendor under the sun and every PG/VG ratio imaginable, if I were you I would go to a vape store (a real one, with a vape bar, not a smoke shop that sells ecigs too), and explain your problem. Ask them to make you sample several brands and several PG/VG ratios, including 100% VG. If you find something that doesn't make you gag, keep this one and try different nic levels until you find one you're comfortable with.

Observe your body's reactions, and go from there.
