Can't Get Rid of Weird Taste Kanger Coils Have

Last month I bought the EVOD and, at first, loved it. It has a simple yet elegant design, there's no issues with the wick drying out since it's on the bottom and it can be easily refilled. The first e-liquid I used in it was a flavor I'd never tried before so I didn't notice if it had a funny taste. But when I tried RY-4 (a favorite flavor of mine and a taste I know very well) in it there was a weird taste. I looked online and found out that I could disassemble the coil and clean it so I did just that and also tried as best I could to oxidize the coil. While the weird taste wasn't as strong as it had been, it was still there and quite noticeable.
Does anyone know a way to remedy this, and if not, are there any other bottom coil clearomizers that anyone would recommend that don't have this problem?

Yes, I've tried soaking it in alcohol and I've tried taking out the two flavor wicks. Still no luck. I even tried replacing the two flavor wicks with a thin strip of Fluval that I had kicking around from long ago back when I still used a 3 piece system. While the strip of Fluval did work as a wick (surprisingly well I might add) it did nothing remove the bad taste.

I feel like an idiot. I must have just poured some alcohol over it and rinsed it with water because I gave it another try, this time really letting them soak in an alcohol bath before rinsing them out, and it worked wonders!!! I'm no longer getting that awful chemical flavor from my coils. And thank God, 'cause I really like the idea of the changeable bottom coil. There's rarely any issues with wicking since they're sitting in e-liquid, and when you've used one to the point that you're getting a burnt taste, or you just want to switch to a different flavor, you can just rinse them out (maybe replace the loose wicks if need be) and use them again - something you just can't do with cartomizers (also making them much more cost effective). Now, I just need to get myself a ProTank II....
