just for fun i want to try this. Tell me if it will work. I wanna go to the store, get a bottle of pure VG, then get some lifesaver mints and crush them into a very very fine powder. Next, I will put them in the jar and shake them. Bing bang bibbity boppity, I just made menthol e-juice for under 10 dolla! No nicotine, so I'll probably just do tricks with it and stuff... will it work? Worth a try?

Don't recommend. Those mints have other things in them that (ingredients found here) can't be verified for vaping safety, and others that I wouldn't want to be vaping at all. Menthol crystals aren't expensive and a little goes a long way. Heck, they don't even have to list WHAT artificial & natural flavours are used.

I'm sure there's a local liquid vendor close to you that will carry them, I haven't looked at retail since I buy my ingredients online and local. With an eliquid vendor you should be getting stuff that's at least been checked for safety when vaping, I can't say the same for picking up a random pack off a shelf.

can i buy menthol crystals at a retail store??
Good question, I don't know. But DO NOT CRUSH STUFF UP AND THEN PUT IT IN YOUR LUNGS. That could be really, really BAD for you. Pneumonia type bad. Not to mention what the chemicals will do once they are heated to vapor.
Seriously, this just makes me shudder. Very scary idea.

Frosty, recid is right....don't do it. For one thing, all the ingredients are not suitable for vaping (that we know of) but also, the sugar in the mints will clog up your attys something fierce. If you want off-the-shelf VG (that's what I use...get it at Walmart) and a flavoring you can get locally, go to a place like Hobby Lobby (not sure where in the US you are) or maybe a cake-making/candy-making place, and pick up some LorAnn's flavorings for super cheap. That's what I used in the beginning and it worked fine. Go read the DIY Liquids threads before you decide what to do that you can do with local ingredients. You can't post there yet, but you can read, read, read.....then you'll understand what you can do with local materials.

I don't want to be mean, I try my best, but this thread struck a nerve.

This goes to all new members:

DON'T DO DIY WITHOUT RESEARCHING. READ THE DIY THOROUGHLY AND GET 5 POSTS TO ASK EXPERIENCED DIY'ERS.

I really can't stress it enough. It's a complicated subject that has numerous safety and health concerns. It's not something you just decide to do and hope works out.

Seriously, considering crushing mints up and inhaling them is ludicrous. You NEED to know exactly what the ingredients are and their safety. Food colouring, "natural and artificial flavouring" should have been a red flag before you even think about asking. Lysterine is NOT SAFE FOR VAPING.

We need some new rules for this section. These types of DIY questions have been cropping up more and more.

im using a 901 3 ohm atomizer

can i buy some listerine spray or whatever and spray it in there? gotta be somewhat safe...

It's very easy to do PERMANENT damage to your lungs! Inhaling substances is never good for your lungs. Breathing the air while walking down the street is bad enough, don't do deliberate damage to them. With any luck your lungs will last a long time, take care of them.

Regardless, your lungs will last the rest of your life. Please try to make that a long time!

ok... and for my fifth post... is there a taste when vaping pure vg?

Yes, but it is very mild and only slightly sweet ... it DOES, however, give you plumes of vapor enough to fog up the room! Actually, I keep one Twist dedicated to dripping pure VG. If I'm not in the midst of a nicotine panic, it satisfies my visual/tactile cravings and I don't even realize I'm vaping 0 NIC. In addition, it clears my palate between flavored juices and allows the flavors to really pop!
