I been vaping 2+ yrs, been making my own juice since the beginning. Essentially they all work the same, a wick holds the juice and a coil vaporizes the juice. So why do some tanks, clears, etc. make vapored juice taste better than others? I can see the wick material, the battery's watts/volts, and coils ohms making a difference. But how can the shape of the tank make any differance.
There's hundreds of different sizes and shaped tanks, one person will say this one is best, another vapor will say this other tank is best. How can the shape of any tank make juice taste best. I say it can't, the difference must be in the wick/coil/ohm/watts/volts, is this right?

If all that is so then explain why a DIYed mix I make tastes better in an EVOD - yes an EVOD rather than a Protank 2 - both are with the same kangertech single 1.8 coil and vaped on the same gear at the same 3.7V? I have tried it over and over and it does not matter which Protank 2 I try it does not taste very good in them - weird huh??;)

Thats kind of what I wondered to. I DIY vanilla and vaped it in a Kanger TC3 for about a yr, taste great. Finally that tank broke at the seams so I used a Kanger Evod, its not been the same since, not good. Both tanks are made by Kanger, both are same shape and same size(ml). The only difference I see is the evodhas 3 holes and TC3 had 2. I make my own coils and used the same coil in both the TC3 and Evod and the same bat, so may the difference is in 2 and 3 holes.

Why is my Dads 350z so much faster that Moms Murano?? They have the same motor in them....
Why is a In-N-Out Burger better than a McDonalds burger?
Why does beer taste better from Glass bottle vs an aluminum can?

Maybe you just prefer the Evod tank.. Making you predisposed to like it better?

I know on the last coil I made for the Evod I use w/vanilla, I made it with 2 twisted 32g wires and it did improve. First time I tried twisting 2 wires together its easy, I'll have to say from now on I'm sold on them. More vapor and a little better flavor, still not as good as the TC3. Guess I'll have to break down and buy another.

Can't see where any of this has anything to do with E-Cig tanks but I'll not argue.

BTW Beer in a can does taste better than in a bottle. Coke in a can also taste better in than a bottle. Beer and Coke in a bottle = Flat taste

Thatis the best answer to the your question so far..

Best or better is based on PERSONAL preference and opinion. Preferences and Opinions are NEVER wrong, but they do differ.

Maybe you are seeing Incomplete Comparisons when someone says that a Tank is the "Best"?

Meaning, if I have 2 Tanks, chances are that I will like one Better than Another. But does that mean that the 1 out of the 2 is the "Best" Tank? It Might or it Might Not be.

There could be a Tank that I Haven't tried that is even Batter then the 2 I have. And when I try that one, it makes my Old "Best" just seem Good. Or even just OK. Seems like "Best" can sometimes be a Moving Target. And Dependent on what I have Actual Tried.

I guess what I am saying is that I feel that wick/coil/ohm/watts/volts have more to do with flavors tasting good than the tank they are in. You could have a tank where your juice taste great in, put a different coil or wick in or use a different battery w/different watts or volt settings and the juice may taste bad. That is why I am saying the tank may have nothing or little to do with flavor. As I said I tried a different coil build and the flavor got better with the non-rebuildible Evod.
When I started I vaped V2 tiny e-cigs with dispossible cartridges and I refilled the cart with my DIY juice. Back then with those it seems the flavor was better than anything else I have used since. I would say that since V2 bat/cart settup was tested/tested/tested by the company the cart and bat fit well together so the flavor was good. Since I changed to tanks over a year ago I have never gotten anything equal to that, even with fresh new Evod w/factory coils.
I'm just frustrated with the taste of any of my setups, thought about going back to the tiny V2's. Instead I am gona try a dripper, its a cheap Nectar Nana clone but I don't want to spend big $$ and not like it.
EX: I DIY RY4 Double Flavor (TFA) and in the V2's I could taste/smell the hint of caramel, it was good. I have not tasted it since I stopped useing the V2's. Same mix so thats not it.

Absolutely they do Play a Role.

But so does Chamber Size, Amount of Air Flow, and How the Air Flow hits the Coil.

So when you put the Dozen or so Parameters together (each with Varying Degrees of Importance) and do the all the Possible Permutations, seems like it would be Very Hard to Say what is the Best Tank for Everyone.

Really?
How can you say they are the same when they look nothing alike?
One has an extended 510, the other a Skirt.
The air intakes are different, the e-liquid volume and therefor warm up times are different. At one point the wicks were different. I own both types.

Want to see your Protank II completely change. Order an AFC base and swap out. :D

All the little variables effect the vapor production and flavor you sense: a couple that are going to differ between tanks include the airflow and coil position. And airflow is complex - a slight variation in design can have a huge impact.

Heck - changing the drip tip on the SAME tank/juice/mod can make a surprising difference - it impacts the airflow.

I don't know, maybe I'm loosing my taste I am 61. I have read a few people saying in the mourning the flavor can be tasted and by the evening its gone. Also read it dehydrates you and effects taste but I drink plenty of water so thats not it. I make a flavor that taste just like an ice cream orange pushup and I can taste that real good. Maybe the light flavors like vanilla I can't taste as good anymore, been vaping it for 2 years as my main vape. I may just have to go to all strong flavors. Ohwell tks for the imput all, I appreciate it.
