I just started mixing this version of caps custard and it just doesn't taste right. What starting percentage would be good? Ive tried 5 percent and 10 but it just isn't good. Anyone have any suggestions. Will steeping time help and how long.

Try 15% V2 and 2% Dulce de Leche if you got some. It took 2 weeks of steeping for it to taste good. Gets better every week after. That's the worst thing about desert flavors (custard), it takes time for that taste to come out right. I've never tried the V1, so I guess I really couldn't tell you if the V2 is just plain junk but I seem to like it after a couple weeks. It tastes really plain right after you mix it.
Some people love it, some don't.....I get a slight plastic-ish twang from it initially, seemed to fade with aging, I also get that from the cap eggnog too though....I don't think I'll ever use it as a solo flavor, tons of recipes I am still trying out with other flavors to accent it though, I'm honestly debating trying other vanilla custard flavorings to see if I prefer instead, part of the joy and frustration at times is finding the best for your individual tastes
Your percentages don't look bad, least according to the recipes on ecf that I've seen, are you using it solo or in a multi-flavor mix? I tried the 7.5 vC2/ 2ddl recipe, took awhile to age, again, I think I need to try other custard for my tastes though.

I just got my V2 and Dulce de Leche in the mail this morning, have a batch made and put to bed to steep. Since then I made a small batch of just Vanilla Custard V2 15% and tossed it in with a few other diy samples bottles in a slow cooker steep. It's pretty decent on it's own IMO.

While I have never made the Cap V2 on a stand alone basis; where it is by far the predominant flavoring... I have not enjoyed mine for at least a 30 day (non assisted) steep. I suggest sampling your efforts from time to time to see what works for you.

I have been using it solo. I just ordered ddl so when that arrives I will try mixing it. Also have v1 custard on the way. Pretty sure that will be much better.
I have a 4oz bottle that I can't stand. For me it just gets weirder as it cures. Tastes like polymers and cyanoacrylate with a hint of butyric acid.
If you've tried v1 then there's a 99% chance you won't like v2 it doesn't taste like custard to me at all if you don't want to vape ap and diacetyl then that's your choice but you won't find a good tasting custard without it in there somewhere almost all v2's are bad I'll just get that out of the way now
My Cap VCV2 and FVV2 and Strawberries & Cream are alone, in the corner of my diy shelves probably never to be revisited. Sorry to be a "hata"...just one vapors experience. I find the stuff non vapable.
Glad to see it's not just me, steeped it for almost 2 months and doesnt get any better, really weird taste that's not for me in it. Now tfa vanilla swirl is tasting pretty good to me, may have to try their custard.
Vanilla swirl is alright not spectacular and yeah there custard is not really worth trying it doesn't taste like custard it's just super sweet with a little spice same thing goes for flavor west
I read the other day where someone had the same problem with Dulce smelling like chocolate. No. It's not supposed to be that way. On topic, I haven't tried a v2 anything that I like. I know v2 is supposedly the safer way to go, but if I wasn't vaping, I'd still be smoking. I'm sticking with my capellas vanilla custard original. Why? Because I like it
Yeah another member made a good point on the mm thread about that it's healthier then smoking either way idk to each their own I guess
