So far I only have flavors from Wizard Labs with the exception of two from MBV. I am not having much luck making any good fruit flavors "pop" like the ones I buy. Mostly looking to make some good strawberry based flavors.

I am beginning to wonder if it isn't just the flavors that I have. I have taken and used so much great advice on this forum, but the fruits just aren't coming out great. Will I see a major difference right away if I buy flavors from Capella or Flavor West? Evryone seems to have great faith in them.

I will try those as well. I am just about ready to give up on fruit flavors, it's that bad. I made a peach and vanilla mix that smelled GREAT when I mixed it, and the smell actually improved every day of steeping. After 6 days I couldn't resist trying it... I thought I was going to vomit. It was that bad! Strawberry blends are almost as bad. Im trying from 5% on up, and it always smells wonderful. I have tried DW, EM, Stevia, nothing beyond flavors, vodka, saline, everything and all combinations of each. Nothing seems to pop like the ones I buy. I just don't get it!! lol

I think you would be surprised with the FA flavors like wllmc suggested. Try single fruit flavors first to get the right % down perhaps and then add in other flavors. For strawberry flavor I really like the Sweet Strawberry from Capellas too. YMMV

As a side note, any dessert blends (bakery style) come out great. At least that tells me I don't just suck at DIY all together, I just suck at one style!! :D

You had to pick the hard fruits to start with, lol.

Blueberry is way easier/better to start out with.
Banana, Coconut, Pina Colada, & Pineapple are pretty easy too.
Edit: And TFA Orange Cream

BTW if you're looking for that, "just bit into a fresh strawberry" vape, good luck...
Most flavors, after mixing, will smell, and taste, like the real deal, but, vaping is not the quite the same.

When I first entertained the idea of diy, it took me about a month of research before I made my first order. I read up on pg/vg/nic/flavor manufacturer's. I didn't go into this with the mindset of testing the water. The way I looked at it being that 99% of the store-bought/pre-made juice I had bought was sickly/artificially sweet...I knew there was no way I couldn't make something better. My first mix was better than anything I had bought.

I looked at a number of different vendors for my first order. For whatever reason WL is the most recommended vendor to new diy'ers, so that was the first place I looked. Like most folks I wanted to get most everything I needed to start from one vendor. I had pretty much ascertained that folks didn't care much for Lorann flavorings. I was looking for mainly tobacco flavors along with vanillas, chocolates, coconuts, coffee and creams and I wanted to try as many different flavors manufacturers as possible to see which particular ones I liked most. It was for this reason I passed on WL...besides Lorann, I would have been stuck with buying all TFA/TPA flavors...so I went with a vendor that offered a wide selection of flavor manufacturer's. I made two orders, I bought my nic/pg/vg from MFS and my flavorings from RTS Vapes.

But to attempt to answer your question, there's nothing wrong with certain TFA/TPA flavorings, some are better than others, same with any flavor manufacturer. Outside of mixing inaccuracies, for each individual flavor you'll find one or several flavor manufacturers you like better than others. You may hate TFA/TPA strawberry and love Inawera's strawberry etc, etc or vice versa...

Blueser, lots of the advice that I have gotten from here has been from posts from you. Thank you for being more detailed than the usual "use EM" or "add less flavor."

I did make the mistake of not finding this forum until after I made my first DIY order. I was buying an amp for my daughters car at a stereo shop in town and a guy behind the counter had a huge mod in his hand, with a huge drip tip, and this was the first I had seen beyond Egos and twists. We started talking and he told me what an RDA was, and how he makes his own juice. He is the one that told me about Wizard Labs. So naturally, that is what I went home and did... ordered everything from Wizard Labs! :D After getting everything, I began looking online for advice and that is how I found my home here!

I know, I know, bass ackwards..... :D

I am also new to DIY and really like the berry flavors. So far I have made blackberry, blueberry and combinations. I am experiencing the same thing you are, no POP. I made a Hazelnut Coffee for my wife and it is pretty good. I don't care for that type of blend, but she likes it and says it is good but still experimenting.

I have also been using all WL stuff as they were so helpful in getting me started. I visited their facility and gave me some great advise of what equipment i needed, and, more importantly, what I didn't need.

If you find the answer, please let me know.

Thanks

I ve always used Wizards Labs/ TFA flavours. Ive found them good and well priced. Lately though, I find Im tasting the sucralose too much. Im getting distracted by the after taste these days and was wondering if Capellas and Flavor West also use artificial sweeteners too. Has anyone found a good alternative to these flavoring that dont sweeten ?

TFA uses sucralose in their flavors? Thought they only sold it for you to add if you wanted.

OK, read something last night that I tried and seems to have helped. Sorry, I was tired and didn't notice who posted it as I usually like to give credit for good ideas.

I added .5% vodka to my berry mix. It helped tremendously to add a little pop. I am going to make another batch today and will probably play with the percentage a little. It was recommended between .5-1%
