So a little over a month ago I bought a small bottle of Captain Jack. I was very excited because I love pipe tobacco flavors but have yet to find a solid one. Filled a tank the day I got it and BAM, disgusting alcohol taste:(. I figured i'd give it some time to steep. Cap off for a week, and sitting quietly in a dark room for a little over a month now with cap on. Tried it yesterday, and same result. Alcohol. Anyone have any luck with this juice or have any tips? Or should I just give up on it and move on?

IMO you never leave the cap off more than a few hours 12 at most, of the nicotine starts to break down from moisture in the air.

I did not have this issue at all with Capt Jack.

What you dont mention is shaking the living daylights out of the juice. A good "aging" of juice, should involve a good violent shaking, some airing (a couple hours), some more shaking, and then to sit in a dark cool place, with some more shaking every so often.

I enjoy Capt, it is not my ADV or anything, but i do enjoy it. I keep it in the rotation.

Before I had just bought 7ml bottles, which I suspect sit around at Halo longer than a 30ml does. So if I am correct the 7ml have a longer steep time on them before they ship to us. So when I got my first 30ml bottle of Capt Jack last week, I did try a little of it, and it was ok.. but not as good as I recall the past few 7ml bottles I had purchase. Gave it a big shake, used the dripper to inject air into it from the bottom up, gave it some more shaking, a bit more air, capped it. stuck it in the dark cool place i keep my juices and will come back to it in 2-3 weeks.

Captain Jack never settled down enough for me, even from the 7ml sample bottle. I did the airing, shaking, letting it sit, blowing into the bottle gently. It still tasted too artificial and perfume/alcohol heavy. I had gotten a 30ml bottle before I realized this, because I could taste the promise in it. I even tried using as a mixer with other flavors, but even a drop or two would end up making me toss the whole tank. It's a potent flavor!

Not every flavor will appeal to you, and tobacco flavor is hard to capture. That's why I enjoy naturally extracted tobaccos when I want the taste of cigar or pipe tobacco. I ended up swapping my sample and 30ml bottle of the Captain for some Voodoo. :)

Longhorn is pretty good with enough airing, aging and shaking. And a drop or two of Belgian Cocoa gives it a nice, rich dimension. YMMV.

Any reccomendations on a place to get the naturally extracted tobaccos?

Cap't Jack does require quite a looooong steep, but I enjoy it mixed with Southern Classic and Tiki. Really nice

To the OP Bman: I gave Cap't Jack quite a few chances. And same with Southern. Neither are in my top 15 Halo flavors. I sent them off to someone who is enjoying them. Glad they found a better home.

Move on.

I like Captain Jack but I'm not crazy about it. I have some right now in a carto tank. I tend to take 6 or 7 vapes from it and then switch to something else for a while. It usually takes me 8-10 days to go through about 3ml of it.

The "best by" date on mine 4/9/15.

I like having it around but I won't miss it too much when it's gone. For me it's good but not great. Probably won't order more.

I agree. I can't get past the alcohol taste. I think I'm actually moving on from Halo unfortunately.

Now that would be a shame. Midnight Apple, Longhorn, even Malibu are all highly regarded. You won't find a more loyal Halon than me, and I'll admit not all Halo juices will appeal to most people. Some are meh, some won't get another order, and some are in my tanks at all times!!!

I'm not a Cap't Jack fan, but it is like any Halo juice, deep, complex, well crafted. It might float your boat, or get tossed over the side. But they are all worth a shot.

Gin is well crafted, complex, and has it's followers. I wouldn't say Gin is bad, but you will not see me drinking it again.

But...
The most important thing, you are almost at one year!!!! Now, that's important!! Way to go, brother!!!
