There are so many examples where electronic cigarettes would be appropriate -- and car rentals is certainly such a place. Ditto for airlines.

Instead of selling directly to anyone via the Internet, makers should have established a beachhead of users through tactics like sales at airports and car rental desks. Get disposables in assisted living facilities. Sell firemen on the benefits of vapor over smoke. Nurses facing a long shift could take an e-cig break. Let that base swell .. and legions of smokers would follow the good examples.

i might be cynical here but i think the car rental people are being very practical..

no more stinky cars.. no more dirty ashtrays and ciggy burns on their seats.. still any support for whatever reason is good..

I just had to rent a van for work and I they asked if I was a smoker and with a big grin I told them "Nope I am a vaper!" and showed off my e-cig with a brief explanation of how it works. I therefore saved the company the sizable deposit and relatively minor non-refundable fee for tobacco use! As I drove the cargo van away I vaped up a storm while waving a friendly "see you later" at the rental clerk.
