Find a good clone, then find the addy you wanna use in it, now put them together adjust the center pin, add battery put mod together.
Now, is there a gap? Quite possibly. File the pin down a lil at the time til it fits. Now you just saved $585!

Once you adjust centerpin properly on the mechmod, there is no gap. If fact this is one of the big pluses that you find on a common mech mod that you don't see often on a regulated mod.

This the version that I have. It was my first mech mod with an old trident with the tiny holes. I love my Caravela and still use it in rotation with my 20+ mech mods. I have a VTR that's been back in its box since I got my Caravela :)

According to the details description on that page it says 'adjustable center pin', but looking at the picture, it might be just 'floating' type pin which can move up or down; if it's floating pin, then you take the topcap off the mod and screw it all the way in to your topper; then you can push the pin in towards the topper if you want; or when you screw the topcap back onto the mod with the battery inside, the pin will press on the battery and push upwards anyway to contact to the tank/topper

Yes, and the pin is usually too long, which leaves an annoying gap with most atomizers.
Even with flat top batteries.
To fix this, you sand it slightly as posted above

I don't understand what you are arguing? You can't "adjust" the gap away.
The pin is too long.
