I need to get this done somehow. I want a more realistic feeling of cola and lemonade beverages. How could you achieve this better than getting the liquid carbonated?

Has anyone ever done this?

Some people swear by VTA Fizzy Sherbet. It's a lemon flavor (and a good one) that's supposed to give a "fizzy" effect but I don't get that from it. Some do so it's worth a try. :)

In my opinion, carbonation is less about actual flavor, and more about a physical sensation. And, therefore, does not translate well to e-liquid/vapor.
These are two good write-ups on the subject:
Effervescence and You, (WIP) (reddit article by ConcreteRiver)https://np.reddit.com/r/mixersclub/comments/5967g8/effervescence_and_you_wip/
and
Random DIY mixing (@PJReid's personal experience with "fizzy" concentrates)

Reading both of these will give you different viewpoints on the subject. As always; YMMV.

I like Real Flavors Soda Base a lot. I get a nice perception of effervescence using it at 2%. It doesn't have any real flavor aside from some sweetness. I also like FW Pink Champagne, which also gives a good perception of effervescence, in lemonades and other fruity mixes, at 2 to 2.5%. Chemnovatic has a Fizzy Additive (I have only seen it at DIY Vapor Supply) that I want to try.
