You can probably use them in the bathrooms and maybe even stealth vape. So why not have a small set up with you, and the others in your luggage? The only thing I would definitely do is make sure my batteries were in safe battery storage boxes, and that my liquids were tightly capped and in baggies.
this .

You can carry them, no problem. As said above, properly bag and store any that are in suitcases, ect. I stealth vaped in the restroom, and in the little roomette the wife and I had. Just don't blow clouds. Don't know if their smoke dectors would pick it up or not. I just blew down under my shirt or covered my mouth with a blanket I had. If you decide to, or need to vape, just be aware, if you are caught, they won't think twice about putting you off the train at the next available stop.

Amtrak - Plan - Policies - Smoking Policy

Smoking Policy

All Amtrak trains, Thruway buses and stations are entirely non-smoking. Electronic smoking devices, such as electronic cigarettes, are not allowed in any area on trains, on Thruway services, in stations or in any other location where smoking is prohibited.
Smoking stops may be available

Passengers may smoke on station platforms at longer stops as announced by train crews.
Passengers must remain next to the train, ready to re-board immediately upon hearing the sound of the locomotive horn and the "all aboard" calls from Amtrak employees.
Smoking stops may be shortened or eliminated entirely if the train is operating late.
State or local laws may prohibit smoking on station platforms.

Take the bus, or your car...I won't give them money if they discriminate against me based upon stuff I do

Or you can fly and have some dude touch your junk and if you mention Al Qaeda you can get a free colonoscopy :D

I had no problems with bringing my e-cig stuff on amtrak. In fact when I complained about being forced to go onto the platform with the smokers, the conductor told me I could puff on the train or in the bathroom. He didn't care. :) Of course I stealth vaped in my seat cause I didn't want to piss off the smokers.

Smoking is illegal on the train but no ecigs is just a policy.

Baggage is not searched when traveling by train. I'm going to be taking a train in November with DH and MIL. She won't fly :(
We have a couple of those room things since it will be an overnight trip. I do know that Amtrak has the no ecig policy in place and I plan to vape in my 'room'. I've never done a long train trip so I'm looking forward to doing this at least once in my life ;)

I plan to pack like I do for flying, all ecig related goes into my carry-on. :D

If you have a cabin or sleeper and close the curtain... Don't walk down the hall vaping... Don't vape in the dining or rec car... I don't think there will be an issue.
Just for courtesy, you could get a USB fan to dissipate the vapor so it doesn't look like a stoner's den when you open the door.

If you do not have a cabin or sleeper, you should be able o catch a vape in the bathroom... Just make sure to fan away any vapor there before opening the door as well.

Yeah, I know how to keep vapor to a minimum. There will be a door and it would be foolish to walk in the general areas vaping. I do have a modicum of common sense.

I've told my MIL about Amtrak's stance on vaping. Her first words were "Well that's stupid!" Mr. Robin's whole family are never smokers and totally think its cool that I'm vaping and also amazed that I've quit smoking.
