I have used the same cart on my mini for over a week (I just threw it out because I had chewed it up a bit...) The key is to not let it get to dry. I think what might have happened is that you may have started to burn up the filling in the cart by letting it dry out to much, then topped up and then did the same thing again.. Of course it might also be the e-liquid you are topping up with. Its possible that one of the ingredients in the flavor you are using is more sensitive to heat and is just darkening up after a little use.

Is the taste changing when the cart starts to darken up?

Hmm I guess the coffee is finally kicking in as Im starting to blather on :)

I've been using my carts about 3 days. If the filling starts to get the little black specks, and changes texture, then I will trim it with scissors. When finally filling has been trimmed to the point where it won't easily reach the atomizer, I toss the cartridge. Seems to work pretty well.

I'm really only doing this because I've been extra broke lately. Once my finances get better I think I'll start tossing them daily, or every other day.

Like Leaford and Emp, I almost never am without a full cart. I frequently top it off and reuse some for weeks. Other times, particularly if I don't like the flavor, I use it a bit and then put it with others awaiting the Day of the Big Squeeze. When the squeezed melange bottle is three-fourths full, I fill it to the top with Bickford Kahlua extract. Bingo, great taste with known nicotine content!
