Sorry if this has been addressed before, but my friend wants to know what the cart 'filter' is made of so we don't have to go order more carts. To me, it looks a whole lot like polyester batting used for quiltmaking...
Hi Chris! Welcome to ECF!
Yep that's it, but I don't reccomend using quilt material, others do though. I think it has too many loose threads Loose weave) and those burn on the atty.
There are a lot of alternatives. I use Fluval, found in pet stores or dept.s. get the white. You can cut it to fit your cart. There is a video of how to restuff a cart on here..I will go look!
There are other fillers used, teabags (minus the tea) paper towels and coffee filters. All have threads telling you how to use them. For more info then you can ever read try tying in Cart material in the search bo located at the top of your screen on the blue bar.
Refilling with cart material and then filling up is the only way to go! You of course will need a few extra blank carts over time, so getting some extra in your next order will not go amiss.
here's a few threads to start you off:
From my readings on the dangers of fibers in your lungs from paper, wool, nylon wool, etc, I am seeking a eliquid "holder" that won't have particles that end up in my lungs. I like the pyramid tea bag method because it seems the least "fibrous" but I also feel unsure about superheating plastics in water vapor over and over again and inhaling it, especially after the BPA findings.
I'm interested in a clever solution to this problem.

I had only tried teabags and re-using the material in regular carts, which is probably polyester, before.
Then I tried Fluval and it seems much superior to me. It never burns--still looks white
after 2 weeks. Never get that burned taste even when the juice drys out.
There might be something better, but this is my choice after several months of fooling
around.
You can buy fluval at pet stores like Petco, etc. Just look near the aquarium pumps.
I use the white fluval. The other kind may be better. I don't know.
fluval is the name of the manufacturer. it is not specific enough to those who dont know that it is the "Water Polishing Pads" that they need to get, made by fluval.

Hagen is the name of the manufacturer, but you're right it is the A-242, 244, 246, 248 products that are the 'micro fine' filters that are preferred. The foam filters larger particles. Not saying it wouldn't work but the micro fine filters are likely more like, if not exactly the same as, the oem filler.
