Carto filler and "notches" question

I recently switched to V4L brand batteries. Everything was great until I started using their premium WOW blank cartos. Vapor production is greatly reduced, I think because of the four little notches at battery end of the carto.......letting too much air through in addition to the air holes at the "ash" end. I have to work really hard to get any vapor, and I didn't with the others I used. I noticed the stuffing is the type that looks sort of like insulation, as opposed to the other type I used, which looked like cotton rolled around the center hole and did not have the four notches (and were expensive). Can anyone tell me if LiteCig cartos have the four notches, or if there is another good source for decent KR808D-1 compatible cartos without these notches?

Are you referring to notches on the battery or on the carto?
