Sorry to take this off on a new track. :( I've thought about going to SR cartos, but figured I'd still like 10 watts, so wouldn't it be the same end result? Or am I misunderstanding something about the SR cartos? I like to stay with the LRs since I figured lower voltages would mean more battery life, instead of cranking it to 5.5 volts when I needed the extra TH? So far the clearo's I've tried haven't agreed with the higher voltages, and I've gotten a bunch of dry hits from them.

I've had a lot better luck with the LRs doing primer puffs and making sure that the top of the filler stays good and wet. I do have to do the primer puffs more often at 4.5 volts than at 4.0, but it's been the most hassle free setup I've found for myself, so far. I'm always open for an education, though. :D

Again, apologies for derailing the thread! I hope you can figure out what the problem is, Berylanna!

You can go to 10.15 w/ ego-C and C4's?

Sure can. And no burning filler to worry about--only popping coils...:)

I use SR (2.2Ω) eGo-C and 2.2Ω and 2.5Ω CC eGo clearomizers on my Twists and I adjust the voltage to my liking. Tobaccos and coffees like it hot (8.5 or 9 Watts), delicate flavors like fruits and some desserts like it cool. I know my sweet spot--but we are all different. Every vaper needs to experiment and find what suits him/her!

Yeah, you may wish to start another thread on that. Battery life can actually be better at higher voltages for a number of reasons (but I won't make a long post explaining it here) however, you need higher ohms to go with it. Also you usually need to tilt the cleros.. wicking alone is often insufficient, I've found. 5.5 volts on a LR single coil carto is asking for trouble IMO.

If 10 Watts is your sweet spot, go for it! Just be careful and make sure your carto is fully saturated. Tanks are very good for prolonging your cartomizers' lifespan and they prevent accidental burning of filler because they keep your cartos wet?

I found--again, it's just my opinion--that I prefer higher Ohms on higher voltages to lower resistance cartos on lower voltages... Go figure. Those higher res cartos seem sturdier and deliver better vape--IMHO. :)

You can see what is going on in carto's if you order clear ones instead of S.S. I know they have alot of D.C. clear carto's at a number of vendors. If you do this you will see what goes on with carto with filler material in them. You start out with nice clear or a tint of color in some juices and gradually you will see the filler material get darker and darker. In my opinion this is the normal progression in any carto that has filler material. But wait maybe you don't want to know what goes on in the carto. LOL When your carto turns dark, cleaning will never bring them back to like new, You can use them but they won't ever be like new again, and will probably just frustrate you. Throw them out and use a new one and save yourself alot of time and effort for very little improvement. It took me over a year to come to this conclusion. Even with carto's that have no filler material, the juice will darken over time and this is just because the coil gets dirty and burned on gunk and this will darken the juice. But most of these you CAN clean and dry burn the coil and make them like new again. If you run them to hot, they will burn the juice and awhile back a person said to experiment with a hot pan and put a few drops of juice on it and they said you will see the juice burn. So if it burns in a pan, it will burn if your coil gets to hot. As I understand, the juice base liquid is like a sugar, and I know if you make syrup out of sugar and don't watch it, or making caramel, it first goes to caramel then to a burnt blob, if you don't get it off the heat, The same thing will happen to candy if you get it to hot.

no, atty - the room mate doesn't want to try the clearos because berylanna had bad luck with the visions which are basically clearos. i have used them and had no leaks .....

as to the carto with the black filler. i would dissect and/or just try to wash out the filler to see if there is a burn or just discoloration.
if you can take some pics we would be more than happy to look at them in the burning carto thread and discuss.

don't worry about the length of the thread - just go to the last post ;)

Yes, my roommate does not want manual batteries and I cannot really recommend a clearo with an automatic, though, to be honest, I've tried it a little bit, since the automatic Volts, including X2's, are difficult to get liquid into. But I mostly use my manual with clearos.

I vape the same type of dark liquids and don't get burning, though my cartos gunk up pretty fast if I don't mix or alternate with clear liquids. But I don't use RY4, which is supposedly carmel-flavored and therefore probably a bit sugary. (Though in real life caramel is made from milk, hence "dolce di leche")

Hee hee... Hiya, Wyojoe!

Yup! Looks like this (photo courtesy of WillyB--originally posted in the Burning Thread--thanks, WillyB). :)
