Carto help - PLEASE

So here we go. I have been having a horrible time w cartos since about the end of May. 1.7 s/c smoktechs and now 3.0 boges. They seem fine at first. After about a day my juice starts turning dark and tasting very bad. I have also noticed some sort of black gunk floating around in the tank (which I'm assuming is turning the juice). Anyone experience this? What are superior options to these cartos? I'm at a loss here and have actually been thinking of grabbing a pack of the dirty cancer sticks...

Also dual coils are out. Still using a lava tube and haven't been able to upgrade.

You could always consider a stardust v2 or a vivi nova v2. Seen a vivi nova v3 out now too.
Both options allow for you to just change the coil head with different resistances.

Have you checked out the Kanger H-coils? IMHO they're not quite as good as the boges (when the boges are good), but if they're not affected by this QC issue going on in China... Unfortunately IKV is out for a bit (he's gonna get a flood when he opens up)...

Don't go back to the analogs!! They don't love you like we do!!

I ordered two stardusts and I'm hoping they help. Tried ce3 and it was the most inconvenient bad vape ever.

Are you slotting the cartos? If you are some of the gunk may be bits of metal from slotting them.

50/50 Max. I'm not using boba in a tank even though some do. Tried but no go.

All these answers are not really answers, they are more of recommendations to buy other cartos... My first solution would to be thoroughly clean your tank. Take it completely apart and clean it with vodka. You may have residue thats backed up around the seals of the tank. In some cases if you have a colored tank or tube, thr paint may dissolve off into your juice if its a crappy tank. If you do this and you still experience the problems, you may look into your juice. If youre vaping your juice at a really high voltage, I assume it could cause a burning ash or residue to form in the juice though I have never experienced it. I'm with Vegas above. Sounds more like a tank/hardware related issue than a carto one. Tough to tell without seeing it. Never experienced the issue you're having. Have you cleaned and inspected the tank? Are the o-rings intact?

I started using tanks around Feb. Some trial and error (no one told me some of the no-no's). Things got really good for about 2 months. I alternated between three tanks because I'm just weird like that. Anyway, I first noticed it with bounty hunter. Turned from a redish color to solid black in about three days. Horrible taste. That was in late May. I threw everything away. Took a fourth tank (new) and filled it up with a much lighter juice. I figured that had to be the reason behind this. Two/three days later I was with some friends and one of them pointed out a smokey substance oozing out of the holes of my carto into my tank. Brand new tank, clear juice that was black after a couple of days... About two weeks ago I got some boges and I'll be effed but after two days I had black juice! At this point I'm dripping again which is a drag compared to using a tank... As mentioned ce3 was a bust so I was hoping someone could tell me something that worked and would put me in a good place again...

Some juices will eat the plastic caps of the tanks and the o rings. That will release black gunky stuff in your juice. You need to get those tanks open and see what's going on inside. If you find stuff melting or coming apart you need to consider what juices you are using that cause this. There is an extensive list in the forum of juices known to create problems in tanks, whether melting o rings and caps or melting the polycarbonate or cracking it.

I have used carto tanks nearly exclusively since February 2012. I have never experienced anything like you describe coming from your cartos themselves. I bought juice during that time and since have started to DIY. When one of my cartos has been in a tank of the same juice for a week plus and I let it get too low in the tank the juice in it might darken somewhat but never turn black. I have seen this darker juice come out of the carto and mix with the fresh juice, but it is never black or gunky.

Is this happening with brand new cartos on the first use? Are you trying to clean used cartos for reuse?

First use of new carto... If bounty hunter is on the list I'd be pretty shocked. My no no was using rawr Hawaii Sunrise. Since then I try to stay pretty informed. I'm mostly tobacco at this point anyway. Also keep in mind I've actually seen this stuff leaking from my punched hole from the carto. That was the smoktechs though. The boges it only happened once but they just suck so bad it makes me rage

I use the smoktechs in tanks exclusively and have never seen anything at all like you report. I have never used any tobacco flavors at all, that was the last thing I wanted to vape in any transition from stinkies.

The particular juice name may not be on the list, but one or more of it's flavorings might be. I found a few surprises on it but luckily had not come up against any of the problems that caused the creation of the list.

After reading all the reports of boge's problems they would be a carto of last resort for me at this point.

I wish I had more to offer you in the way of suggestions, but in the 17 months I've been vaping I've never seen anything like you describe.

Is the juice burning in the carto?

Could be a combination of things, like the vg ratio and not being completely saturated. In the past when I used tanks I would also notice black specs in the tank, more than likely bits of burnt juice. I just saw where HC posted a response from Boge on all of the issues, please also note the comment about use in tanks, hth!

ive had some little bits of o-ring floating around in my tank from time to time. i just do my best to fish it out with a toothpick, if i cant, ill dump it and refill
