My pipe uses 18350's which is 3.7 volts (which I'm sure you all know
)... Anyway, I've been reading about people using dual coil cartos on theirs with fantastic results. However, whenever I use DCs, my battery gets very hot. The first time, the spring "melted" to lose battery contact I presume? Didn't know any better and just thought it was a defective carto. The other day I bought another DC carto, and again the battery got too hot. I stopped before anything bad happened. I am using a single coil, regular resistance carto now again.
Now, what is causing these shorts? The DC? But I've read that people use DCs on their 3.7 devices all the time... will I be better off with LRs? Or will LR cartos have the same effect as DC ones?
I am asking because the carot i am using is the same carto I've been using since December (which was included with the pipe). I'm lucky it still works and still produces clouds of vapor. I've been told the carto is a SR single coil one XL size. Problem is, here in the Philippines finding a SC SR carto in XL is nigh impossible. The only ones available are DCs and LRs... DCs sold in stores, LRs through local online stores. Planning to try LRs, but I want to make sure it will play nice with my pipe.
BTW, I am using Ultrafire 18350s. Waiting for AW IMRs to be in stock here. Does the type of battery contribute to my carto issues?
Sorry for the long post. Thanks all!
