Hello everyone! I finally got my dad and his girlfriend to try out e-cigs. It's great but one worry is how long his clearomizer is going to last. He's a pack a day guy and well I'm afraid it's gonna burn out in a couple days. I'm still leaning towards clearomizers because they are so cheap and easy to maintain. What do you think would work best?

My wife and I started vaping about three weeks ago. We've tried damn near every option for atomizer/cartomizers and tank systems. We both hate the cartomizers. They burn just about everything we try to put in them and we both have VV mods. I have pre-ordered a GG Ithaka but its going to take months to arrive. I figured just go straight for the best while we have the opportunity. We quickly switched from cartomizers/DCT tanks to clearomizers. I find that I get MUCH better flavor with the vivi nova. It's cheap and can hold us over until we get the Ithaka. I opted for the ProVari mod while the wife got the Sigelei v3 telescope. The ProVari is MUCH better quality.

I was a heavy smoker until we discovered vaping. I was putting away 3+ packs a day and in Oklahoma they are taxing cigarettes to death. (65.00 a carton and about 7.00 a pack). The amount of money you will save will be monumental if you're a heavy smoker. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined and have some basic electrical knowledge I hear nothing but the highest praise for Golden Greek products. They have a mechanical if you want to go that route (GGTS). There is usually a long waiting time between production runs of GG products so If you have the money, pre order an Ithika now. If you want to go the mechanical route get on the notify list for the next batch of GGTS or grab a ProVari. I am very very pleased with my provari.

We have also noticed a big difference in your choice of juices, we were buying local stuff and it was alright. Then I scoured these forums and found Highbrow vaping juice and it is fantastic.

I realize this was a little more long winded than you probably expected but I just wanted to share our experiences over the past month or so. So my short answer is stick with the clearomizers like the vivi nova and get some high quality juice from highbrow and make sure to get high quality VV mods or mechanical mods. Just a quick update. I got a hold of some KangerTech Protanks and ill have to say that so far (three days) they are the best tanks in their price range. The build quality is top notch, the materials are all high quality and you get a Pyrex tank instead of cheap plastic. You won't have to worry about any of your cinnamon, menthol or other juices that normally give some plastic problems. The bottom coil/wick design is great too. You don't have to hold your mod at an angle to get a good hit when the tank is running low. I would definitely give the Protank a look. For around 20.00 you get a nice case, tank, 2 atomizer replacement modules and a beauty ring adapter in case you want to use the larger tank on the smaller ego battery mods.

In the 20.00 price range nothing else even comes close in materials, build quality and concept.

A word of advice though, remember not to over tighten the pieces that have o-rings. People make the mistake of cranking them down as hard as they can and it pinches the o-ring which likely results in leaks.

Best of luck on your search!

I think for best flavor and longevity a GOOD carto (round 2.2 ohm), primes properly of course, and a tank (I prefer around 5ml if I'm only taking 1 tank with me) and I like the XL(45mm) cartos (seem to last a lot longer and produce so much more flavor compared to the short cartos(35mm)....my current setup right now(literally, I'm at the doctors office lol) is a vamo in 18350 mode, 5 ml IBTanked Pyrex tank (22mm XL Pyrex tank to be technically exact), filled with 50/50 sweet chill from www.ahlusion.us ... IMHO the perfect setup and all-day vape(till I get home anyway)...hope this helps, PM me if you have anymore questions about anything!

Not what you asked, but don't skimp on the nic. I was over a PAD smoker and started at 24mg. Over two months later and I'm using both 24mg and 18mg depending on juice. At the beginning, start high and hit that vape as often as needed to keep you off the dirties. The LAST thing I'm worried about right now is nic intake.

Kanger Pro Tanks are WAY LESS FIDDLY then carto tanks. Less mess and they work very well. Easy to fill and clean. With carto tanks wearing out O-rings and getting juice all over can happen. Not so with a Pro Tank.

The atomizer heads for the Pro Tank are easy to rebuild also. (wears helmet waits for Baditude to jump on me)

I was a heavy smoker (2-2 1/2 packs per day), and although I haven't gotten completely off the cigs..... I am at less than a half pack a day now.

What has helped me has been the carto tanks, and the Kanger protank. Both a easy to use, and have good flavor and vapor production.

I think my next purchase will be the Smoktech rsst, as I'm really interested to see how rba's will work for me.
