Keep it simple. I showed my wife (smoker) the things I was doing and the conversation ended with her not wanting to vape because it was to much work.

A replaceable coil and a tank that is easy for big fingers to wash out.

Something else to consider is how long is he on the road at one time. Try to get a battery that will last that long and a bit more so he doesn't have to mess with it. Or a mod that he can just switch out batteries.

Keep it simple at first. Let him appreciate not using cigarettes in an easy way.

The best thing you can do is get Dad into a vape shop and let him choose. Has he suggested that he might even be open to using a vape?? He's got to be ready to embrace vaping for this to work.
To answer your question tho, I would look at the Innokin Itaste VV/VW V3. It has a decent battery life, has passthru charging so he can charge it in his truck via usb while still vaping. It is variable voltage/variable wattage, has an ohm checker and a puff counter, all at a very reasonable price. I would also suggest a good Kanger tank, maybe a Protank II or Aerotank. Finding a good juice is paramount, hence the trip to the vape store. There, he can try out various juices till he finds a few he likes.

Yes, I agree, keep it simple and let him choose.

Don't forget to get him a car charger too! :)

I don't know if I would let a newbie vaper pick their own for their 1st. I had no idea what I was doing. Some said to get a SID, so I got a SID. An MVP2 has a good reputation. I don't have one so I don't have the experience to really say.

Yes, don't forget the house and car charger. An extra battery or two (IMR style), A couple of three tanks so he can start his driving loaded with juice.

How long does he drive at one time? That can help with the advice.

Thanks for all the replies! Price is really not too much of an issue however reasonable is better hehe.

Some info about my dad as requested.

The max he drives per day these days would probably be 10 hours.

He is a heavy smoker... couple packs a day.

He was using blue ecigs for about a month+ when he got tired of the battery always dying and crap vape.

A Good Starter Setup for a Beginning Vaper

Innokin iTaste MVP2. Nearly three days on a charge. Can be used while charging on its USB charger. Solid build quality. Starter kit comes with the USB charger and two free iClear clearomizer tanks.

And havoc1967 also said:
Whenever anyone asks me what's a good starting device I always recommend the MVP. Not much more than an eGo set-up and a much better quality device.

I especially like Bad's way of covering the entry level with the ego/clearo kit (What I used), and what many people use for their first step-up.

Havoc has a very good point that for a wee-bit more to start with the MVP.

1 thing is the MVP won't roll off the dash(!), and offers features for Dad to grow into, without imposing excess complexity on his early 'newbie' days & experience.

I'm looking at the mvp2 looks pretty good. But do you guys think it will fit in a shirt pocket without being too annoying with a tank?

It will fit in a shirt pocket. It's not as big and ungainly as you would think. Very well made and user friendly controls too. It also has an "elegant" look to it, if you know what I mean. In my opinion an MVP looks a lot more classy than a "cigalike" which tries so hard to look like a cigarette but clearly isn't.

Some will say that it just won't feel right being held in the hand for any length of time. I disagree. Think about how often you can hold a tv remote control in your hand without a second thought, and the MVP is smaller than most of them ;)

I must say, first off, congrats on switching your dad over. it's one of the hardest things to get a veteran smoker on e-cigs sometimes. I just got my dad vaping as well. I gave him my e-roll, and he likes it, but the filter tips can only hold so much liquid, and your'e constantly charging the batteries in your pcc (personal charging case) its pocket sized, and you get two e-cigs, but maybe if he has a thing about battery life, i would recommend getting him two ego-twist batteries, one of them to be at least 1300mah, (i constantly use mine at work, and it gets me through the day)
for an atomizer, i personally would recommend an aspire bdc, it packs a decent hit, and they are affordable (around 10$USD a piece, and 2-3$ for bdc replacement coils) this is a very decent beginners kit, and very simple!
I have been vaping for a few years now, and out of all the different kinds of e-cigs i have bought throughout the years, i still use this set up when im out, or on the road. i hope this helped

Does he have a flashlight that takes reghargable batteries already and might he have a charger that would take 18650 or 18350 batteries already?

If so look into a mod of some sort, either mechanical with kick or VV/VW. I say kick with the mech because not only is it adjustable, but it will regulate the voltage and make the battery last much longer before running out of oomph.

For atomizer, I have used PT, PT2, and various aspires not to mention genny and dripper atomizers but keep[ing it simple...

I now use the dYoude (UD) AGR+ for everything I used to use BCCs for, really great flavor and vapor production, just fill it and change out the carto every couple of weeks.

What tank would you recommend to get with the MVP V2?

Hmmm, not a bad one for $8.49.

Oh, on to the question... There are many different ones and they all have goods and bads. I would go to a large B&D and talk about them with someone. You can get a lot of info fast that way. If you think it is appropriate, buy one and get two more on-line at a very reduced cost. Once you decide, we can help with good on-line sites. In the end I would get three of the same. For 10 hours, he will probably use two and have another waiting with a cold brewskie when he gets home.

My boyfriend, who is around your dad's age, tried Maya e-cigs, but then went back to smoking, because he didn't like the experience, even though they looked similar to analogs. Last weekend he purchased a Vision Spinner battery and a Protank 2 Clear Glass. He LOVES the combination! He hasn't touched an analog since. Yeah!

That was my second system! I got a 1100mAH battery so it would last a full day, for me. Congrats! to him!
