My husband would rather throw an automatic volt battery with carto in his shirt pocket than even an eGo battery (even though I have and use various sized eGo's with cartos and with clearos). I would suggest going ahead with your first thought on getting him a volt to start out with. If he likes it, then he can decide what to move to later on, if he decides he wants something different or a longer lasting battery. If changing to an ecig is not his idea, something close to what he is used to may be the best as a very first step.

I was a chain smoker my entire life since I ended eighteen years. Recently I decided to try e-cigarette. I bought something looking as a regular cigarette. It had a weak battery lasting for four hours in my case. So I decided to buy a Mod with Genesis Atomizer. Two 18650 3400 mAh batteries are enough for me to use that device the entire day. Such a configuration is more expensive than 20 USD starter kit which you mentioned but in my opinion it’s more suitable for a heavy smoker. Maybe you and your fiancée should talk about that a bit with her father instead of get lost in an inaccurate surprise?

Sound like my wife and I. Purses are probably great for vaping supplies. For me, it's a Volt with a carto in my front pants pocket...but I do prefer a manual.

I'd go ahead and get the two batteries and load up on the high octane juice.

You might also want to swing by the local convenience store and get him a few NJOY King bold disposables. That's helpful for times when the batteries are charging or he just forgets to bring his device someplace. The vapor is better than Blu and it's the closest thing to a Marlboro Red you can find in a throwaway. I smoked reds for more than 30 years and if I ever find a juice dealer that can do the flavor that NJOY does at about $10-15 a bottle...

I just talked a friend of mine and his father off analogs. 45 & 71. Both were heavy smokers, 2+ PAD. ego knockoffs, 1100 mah batteries. We started with clearos and 24 mg juice, they both continued to smoke. The following week we went to fasttech viva novas and 30 mg juice. They have both been tobacco free. Both are using my DIY juice, grape and grape/menthol. The 30 mg juice made a huge difference, then the vivi novas delivered the right hit.

I have had several people attempt with the cig-a-likes, all failed. the basic ego package with a good atomizer delivers the nicotine which I think is the key to helping people quit.

Just had a thought -- you can get the Mistic 808 at Walmart. The one battery, charger, two carto kit is like $15. Not sure how much a 2 battery kit would be, but likely under $30. It's an 808, no shipping, and cheap.

I'm going to look into that tomorrow, did not know Walmart had those. That is not a bad idea, and give him some of my cartos instead since their suck supposedly. Thank you very much.

He'd rather stay on analogs and not give this a chance unless he can look "normal" when at work/driving. I don't doubt though that if he actually likes it he'll only use a slim for driving.

However if Halo LR cartos will play nicely with the Volt/Mistic battery, I think that should be good enough combined with a 24 or 36mg juice to show him what is possible in terms of delivering the nicotine.

ShogaNinja is definitely on the right path. I think disposables are junk.
Your father in law's first vaping experience needs to be a good one otherwise he'll just put it down and go back to smoking occasionally vaping maybe just to try it or to seem open minded or grateful but in the end the addiction will prevail.

my 2 friends and I have given our Ego-c's away in less than a month and I believe he will do the same as well. The battery life is short, the tank system is convenient but small and gurgles occasionally, It also doesnt put out enough power to run higher resistance heads.

I think you should either buy 2 ego twists (variable voltage) or a vision spinners (same style but longer battery life) 2 chargers (one for home and one for the car) 2 Kanger Evods and a 5 pack of Evod heads.

The evods are great. they dont gurgle unless you forget to wipe the rubber between refills and they are low maintenance. Plus being bottom coil you wont have to tip it back to get the wick wet. They also shouldnt leak unless you run a citrus flavor (I recommend the gorgeous Kanger protank for this. Evod heads are compatible)

With this set up, it should eliminate:
-functional obsolescence (the spinner or twist can drive a 2.5 ohm head no problem and they last long)
-finnicky leaking or gurgling tanks (kanger evod and protank are very reliable. the Evods fit seamlessly if you buy matching colors
-dead batteries (if you buy him 2 batteries and tanks he can easily switch to the other while they are charging so he doesnt have to grab a cig. Plus with 2 chargers he can charge at home or on the go)
-bulkiness (mod batteries look silly to some analog smokers and cigarettes will always be lighter and more convenient than vaping)

This should almost give him no excuse to go back to analogs.

Now the hard part is finding the right flavor. I recommend some fruits, tobaccos, and bakery flavors to mix it up.
Melon boba, bobas bounty, and cafe napoleon are awesome! I'd run high nic levels like 24 or 28. Let him vape his brains out and get nic sick the first time so he doesn't think its too weak for him.

Within weeks he might decide to drop nic levels and get gung ho about juices and mods and you will have done him and his family a great service getting him off analogs!

Good luck and happy vaping!
