Carto vs SS Mesh and drop in resistance

Greetings and thanks in advance for your time.
My PV - ProVari Mini
I am about to embark into rba starting with AGA-T Plus V2 . It seems inexpensive enough and from the reviews, I think it's worth a try.
For the last several months I have stayed with Boge LR carto's punching my own using the attached .jpg. I'll put 2 holes in (8-9 turns). The resistance starting out is around 2.1 most of the time and I will set the ProVari to 3.7. After about an hour or two, my resistance drops and I have to drop the setting on the ProVari to avoid burning and a burnt taste. I know it will take some time to understand rba's but my question is, does this happen with RBA's too? I think (a dangerous thing sometimes) that constant heating of the wire will cause it to become weaker and not as effective as new? The order I made comes with wire and mesh but I also ordered 30 gauge and 400 mesh to use and will keep what is included in the order as backup.

Thanks again for your time
