Hmmm, I can't say that I have experienced the burning sensation out of my nose while using a cartomizer. Have you changed anything? Does it taste ok otherwise? I noticed you said you don't "really notice a burnt taste when exhaling normally," does this mean you do taste a little bit of burnt taste? You may need to turn your wattage or voltage down.

are you using overly sweet tasting flavors or even dark flavors. They will clog up a cartomizer very fast, which can cause a lack of juice wicking into the cartomizer. This can give you the slightly burnt taste on even the freshest carto's.

The other thing that could cause this is the vg ratio. I have some vendors that i need to use at least 70%pg other vendors I can go as low as 50% pg. most vendors will recommend 80pg/20vg.

dark sweet and higher vg all in one juice is the three weaknesses of a cartomizer. That can very easily be the cause of that burnt taste your noticing. The sweeter flavor will cause more sugar gunk build up on the coils. The darker liquid tends to clog the wicking material faster. Vg is thicker and can be hard to get a sufficient amount into the small juice holes the cartomizer has.

The only thing you can try is taking a primer puff. A quick, sharp hard pull on the cartomizer with out pressing the button or firing the battery. This will cause a quick rush of liquid into the cartomizer. Try it ever so often after a couple of normal pull or when you feel your getting that burnt taste. It may help but also once a cartomizer is burnt its seldomly gets that taste out.

If you want to NOT taste food, hold your nose when putting the food in your mouth, and don't suck in air through the mouth either; then close your mouth; if you have to chew, chew, if not just swallow.

You will get very little taste.

If you "notice a strong burning taste if you exhale out of your nose", that just means you detect the burnt taste when you exhale out the nose.

Yes if something is burning it probably is not good.

Cartos usually have some kind of synthetic filler material inside which acts like a sponge to hold the eliquid;
the hot coil is in contact with the damp spongy material and vaporises the liquid.

of course, some small amount of the spongy material gets vaporised also.

It's like when you use a cigarette, some of that smoke you inhale comes from the paper you use to make the cigarette.

With the carto, you also cannot see the stuff inside of it. If you could see it and it actually looked black and burnt you'd probably change out the carto and reduce voltage or something.

With the clearos, if the wick is not damp enough, you also get burning as the coil gets too hot.

Cartos are easy and provide excellent, dense vapor once you get the knack of using them. Once properly filled a carto should be topped off at regular intervals to prevent burning. The smaller the carto the more often you top off. The hotter the carto the more often you top off. The juice in the carto filler material also acts as a coolant. LR cartos of 2.0 ohms and less run hot and need frequent topping off.

When I was using the hot Smok 1.7 ohm single coil without a tank I was topping off a few drops every 15 minutes or so. These cartos would last me about 15ml or about a week before the taste fell off and they needed changing out.

So I was wandering does anyone notice a strong burning taste if you exhale out of your nose? Is this normal, I seem to notice it a lot?
But other then that I don't really notice a burnt taste when I exhale normally?

I think it normal, or if not normal, understandable.

I get different tastes depending on the technique. Pulled just in mu mouth and a bit farther then exhale thru the nose, yes, I get a more "smokey" flavor. Or just into the mouth then exale thru mouth, I get a different taste. Into the mouth, then draw into the lungs and out is different yet again!! And all this with the same juice and setup. (Triton, 650mAh bat, Prime15)

(lol, I wonder if everyone reading this is trying this!!!)

Since you don't get a burning taste out the mouth, you are fine.

And it'll all change, probably several times, in the first 2 months of vaping.
