Cartomizer, Flooding & Juice.

I have a question for those with a ton of experience!

I buy my flavors from 2 shops in Oklahoma City.
One place uses 50/50 pg/vg and the other 60/40 pg/vg.
I was using a standard 1100 mah battery and used a tank with 1.5 ohm 2 hole single coil carto's and some flavors kept flooding. I never had a problem with one specific juice that was 50/50 pg/vg but have had problems with the others. I recently bought a ZMAX, which I love but to get a bit higher voltage I got single hole dual coil 2 ohm carto's.

I know flooding carto's is super common but if flooding happens often to a specific person with those 2 different blends of pg/vg would you recommend low resistance? How many holes? How many coils etc? I love tanks since personally dripping can get time consuming but I seem to have a problem with about every batch of carto's I buy.

Could anyone recommend anything that could make flooding less probable and what resistance/coils do you guys like best?

Thanks,
Jorge

On a VV device like the ZMax, I'd run 3.0ohm single coil cartos at ~5.0v (maybe a little lower since those PVs run hot). Everyone will have a different experience here but for me I punch my own holes so I can get the right setup for different juices ($5 saddle valve from Home Depot, 1/4"). I used to really like standard sized Boge 3.0 with a Siam Mods long barrel straight drip tip but have since really fallen for the Ikenvape 801 Fusion Megas. They sell a stealth 510/801 adapter (~1 mm thick, $3) and these cartos last a long time, make a ton of vapor and really taste good. For thinner juices 1 hole always worked for me, 2 for thicker.

As an FYI, the 2.0 ohm dual coil cartos are actually pushing 2x 4.0 ohm coils. I've had mixed results with DC. Sometimes I just couldn't get enough juice up to the 2nd coil so I'd get a blend of good cape + burnt taste. I prefer single coil now.

I really appreciate your help! is 50/50 or 60/40 pg/vg considered thick or thin? My 60/40 is a lot more "syrupy" than the 50/50 ones. Hmmm, I might have to look into the converters. People have told me that the higher the ohm the less taste, is this true?

Not to me. It really comes down to getting the right "power", what some folks will refer to as their "sweet spot" for me it's between 8-10 watts. A general rule of thumb is that resistance + 2 volts will give you ~8 watts. Then I simply raise the voltage 0.1v till I start getting too hot and back off by 0.1. I don't have a ZMax but I believe they have a variable power control. If yours does, once you find where you like to vape the best it will auto adjust the voltage to match the resistance of your head.

I like cartos in 3.0 ohm but with my rebuildable attys I shoot for much lower 1.2 ohm to 1.4 ohm.

As for juice. 50/50, 60/40 is pretty much right in the middle (PG being thinner, VG thicker) but individual juices will vary. I vape a much higher concentration of VG (80% to 100% VG).

I just saw the stealth adapter and might give that a shot. Those 801 cartos won't work with my current 510 carto tank so I'll need to buy a tank as well that's compatible with the 801 cartos, correct? Yes, I have a variable voltage/wattage. I can change the RMS/MEAN and VOLTAGE/WATTAGE. I was told to use wattage rather than voltage so I can get steady performance when changing my tanks, atomizers etc.

I appreciate all your help once again.

Actually the 801s have the same diameter tube as a 510 carto so I use them with my regular DCT Poly Tanks (I have 4 of the 3.5ml). The Megas are tall enough to go the full length + a few millimeters above the tank top (which works great for me). The 801 connector is a little wider so needs the adapter to be able to attach to the 510 connector. I actually like the wider collar at the connector end because the tank won't slide down over it.

On the voltage vs. wattage, I'd definitely set it to power/wattage (instead of voltage) and RMS (instead of mean). Once you know what wattage you prefer it will automatically adjust voltage to match the resistance of any carto/atty (very nice feature). RMS is a more realistic method of measuring output (mean avg seems to output higher than indicated on any of the devices using that circuit board's type of PWM - pulse width modulation).

i use a 75%pg 25%vg mix for most my tanks, you can get away with thicker(more vg) juice with more holes and primeing more often, personally i have pretty much switched to just using vivi nova tanks when i want hassle free vaping they seem to work pretty well with all juices i make.
as far as high or low ohms that is totally up to your preference and will have little to do with your wicking tho running your coils to hot might give you dry hits if you dont give them time to recover from a hit and might give you some flooding if you are running them to cool.

and yes if you have a vw mod use the RMS setting with Wattage set for best performance and less hassle.

I've had great luck using 2.0 ohm single hole DCTank carts at around 5.0 volts. On my initial fill of the cart I never go over 35drops. That amount never over fills the cart. Once i fill the cart and the tank I let it sit in a standing position for 30 minutes. I've tried the 1.5 ohm dual coil carts but found by the second day there's a good chance the cart will flood. I've tried the 3.0 ohm dual coil carts but found I have to up the voltage to 6.0 which is too big a drain on the battery. The 3.0 ohm carts also require me to take a harder draw. The 2.0 is definately my sweet spot using 70/30 pg/vg.
