Hey guys. Need advice. Here's what happened-

I have a Vmax set at 4.8v
I put a 2.5ohm dual coil carto (all I had on hand) in a smoktech tank
I vaped about 4ml of GotVapes HUSH (AWESOME!)
--70/30 VG/PG perfect vaping experience

After I refilled the tank I started getting burnt cotton filler taste.
Took couple of dry hits and got about 2 puffs of good flavor, then flooding.
It seemed to be going back and forth between burnt and flooding.

Did I burn out the 2.5 carto vaping at 4.8v?
Any help or suggestions?

It's possible that it just died. I don't use dual coils, but I've had smoktech cartos burn out on their 2nd 3ml tank worth of juice……especially if you were using the larger DCT, I could see it just dying like that……and that's exactly how mine have failed: kinda burned, then flooding like mad……blow them out, get a couple good vapes, then back to flooding.

At first, I thought it was a problem with the tank. But after several did it in a row using different filling methods, 1 slot, 2 slots, 1 punch, 2 punches, 3 punches, and pre-punched……I kind of just concluded that's how they were going to fail for me.

Its dead. Try lowering the voltage a little more if you want it to last longer. I have used a few DDC's in a tank and IMO they are not all that great. Before anyone flames me for that statement its just my exp. I don't see what the hype is about. Then again you will most likely hear that from anyone that uses a Genesis. I never ask more then two days out of any carto and I still use them from time to time. Just disappointed every time I do.

Thanks. I guess what you're saying is that I have no choice but to buy a Genesis :glare:
I've been looking for an excuse to do just that :D

Well you bought dual coils so I can assume you like clouds of vapor. Its the only way to go IMO. You have a VMax so why not use that 5 amps to its potential. e-vape.gr will get you a DID with everything you need to get started. Might be on presale and will take about 2 weeks to get. Its easy and works really well. Also have a great thread here on ECF full of people willing to help.

That looks perfect for me! I'm all about making clouds! ;)

Thanks for the direction!

doesn't vmax using pulse modulation or whatever for its voltage? so that 4.8volt can spike higher (and possibly burn your attty) than what you think it is at most of the time. Probably why a lot of ppl feel that their PV hits hard...

Yes that's why I was saying he should try turning it down. As far as Genesis atty's go I have never heard of anyone having an issue using a Vmax so correct me if I am wrong. IMO the Provari V2's 3.5 amp limit is not as hot as I would like. I was thinking about getting a Vmax for that reason. Tired of E1, E2, E8 codes. So I stopped pushing the limit and stay around 3 amps.

I have it higher cuz I do like the hotter vape too. It's hard to adjust it with a higher res tho. I can't find anything higher that 3.0-3.2 which I think would help... I did come across some 4.5ohm DCCs at my local shop and promtly snatched them up. Vapor production slightly declines around that level tho

Here a video review on VMAX that would help. A PBusardo Review - The V-Max by SmokTech - All About Vapor - YouTube
He was saying that not to trust the setting that is showing because he can vape at 3.0v fine as he would with a provari set at 4.2v
He was also stated, when replacing you battery VMAX resets to 5.0v

Hope this helped.
