To all:

Been using an eGo with 510 cartos... Tasty Vapor zero nic juice.

Currently loving Pina Colada, but the cartos are not lasting a long time. I read a thread that was questioning the effect of sweetener, not sure if that's it.

ALSO noticed... I have been filling cartos with the Taryn "spin" but this last time did not. Seemed to get better wicking - is that possible?

My question is... what effect does sweetener have on shortening life span AND could the "spin" contribute to this problem? Perhaps there can be too much juice to allow a good draw?

Thanks for all thoughts. I know cartos are disposable, BUT... wanna get some time out of them, not just a day or two before burnt-fest.

Thanks!

I've been using 510 Boge cartos on my 5v GLV2, and 510 LR Boge cartos on my 3.7v and eGo batts. I'm getting about two weeks average per carto using mostly mint/menthol and fruit flavors, with a little sassafras and licorice from time to time. Generally, a pg/vg ratio of 80/20 to 70/30, some premixed and some diy eliquids.
I do not use the taryn spin.
My fill method is simple: add ten drops, wait, add five drops, wait, then three or four more at a time, waiting in between and setting the carto down on the threaded end on a flat non-porous surface. When I see a drop or two come out of the threaded end, I give a moment for any more to leak out, then dry off the threads, put the soft cap back in the mouthpiece end, and cap it on both ends until needed.
I'm probably getting between 10 and 15 fills per carto, but I haven't been counting. That's just an estimate.
Only guessing, but I wonder if the Taryn spin could cause the wet filler to compress?

There is theory that pushing the juice in using a carto condom can shorten the life of a carto.

I use Boge soft-caps and put the juice in as-intended, by popping the soft cap and dripping it into the stuffing (off the battery). And I add some juice whenever the vapor gets light or a bit dry in a way that cannot be fixed by tilting the ecig carto down for 5 seconds. I used 2 PVs, alternating between them and the 510 has a Boge soft-cap. Using it 1/2 the time that way I can get a month's use out of a Boge soft cap. Sometimes you get one where the center air channel gets crooked and makes dragging hard, or dried juice gathers down in the bottom partly blocking the threaded end hole - if either of those happen I use a small smooth well-straightened paper clip and gently straighten the channel and stick the paper clip all the way through and out the threaded end hole. The Boge ones have a defined center air channel and do Vapor4Life cartos for KR8. The stuff i said is for those kinds of cartos. I don't spin to force in more juice. I occasionally reverse spin to get juice out of a prefilled carto.

I agree, pop the top and fill them up. Initial fill on a new one, leave the bottom 'condom' on. Pop off the white cap, fill to the top, grasp the condom and slowly pull it off which draws the liquid down. Fill up again, gently blow on it to remove any excess. I throw the little white top away, use a drip tip so I can just top off my cartos the second they begin to feel dry, so instead of 'refilling' I am just always topping it off.

OK... so here is the other question... I will try these filling methods. I have no more new cartos, so perhaps I've done the old ones in. When I get new, I am split about whether to get LR cartos... I hear so many people like them, but then I hear a lot of people say they burn and aren't good. If I'm having trouble now, I'm assuming LR will only bring more trouble?

You can't use LR on a slim battery but you have Ego so you can. They are only for fat-battery models which have beefier electronics in their batteries and won't be damaged by the increased current draw. They run hotter so you might want to use a plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece instead of the soft-cap.

I don't know what brand cartos you are using but try the Boge soft-caps - they come in standard and low resistance. LiteCigUSA.net is where I buy Boge cartos and they also have plastic drip tips for KR808D-1.
