Cartomizer question.....brown liquid?

So I've been vaping for a couple weeks now and totally loving it. I've gotten the hang of re-filling my cartos but several times I've seen a brown liquid (juice) drip out of the 'battery' end. Like today I was filling one up and got interrupted - I set it on the table, threaded end down, and when I came back and picked it up there was a little puddle of dark brown liquid. What the heck is that from? The juice I'm using is basically clear so what's making it turn brown. Kind of gross....reminds me of how my outside ashtray would get when left out in the rain

The liquid "tans" with heat. It happens. No worries.

...it's from the "gunk" that build up on any atomizer...be it a straight atty or the one in a carto.....

Do you need to preclean cartomizer and clearomizers of their machine oil like a regular atty?
