I've never rinsed mines. Some people do. I use boge as well. Also beware that just because juice comes though the thread that doesn't mean it's properly primed or that you over filled it. It's especially normal for thin juice for some to leak through. I use 70/30 mostly & always get juice through when I fill mines.

It could just be the filler material. Everything in the world has some kind of residue that can be picked up off of it. If the flavor is correct then I would say you have nothing to worry about it just picked up some of the filler material residue. I have never rinsed a carto and don't plan to start anytime soon.

As far properly priming a carto, there are a few different methods.

Drip into the top of the carto 30-40 drops.

Use a needle or needle tip for your juice bottle, insert into the filler squeeze slightly and pull it out at the same time, repeat a few times in different spots.

Finally the condom method, if using a Boge carto's they come with protective covers. Fill the larger cover half way and slowly insert the carto connection end into the cover. Once its gone all the way down give it a minute then remove the cover. Blow through the connection end to remove any juice still in the center. Condom method will not work with flanged cartos.
