If you happen to be looking for yet another way to fill cartomizers, I came up with this as a result of one of Bloog's recent contests. It was developed as a way that a blind person could fill cartomizers but it's even easier and faster if you can see what you're doing.

It does involve a little preparation and using a different bottle than e-liquid is normally supplied in but after that, no measuring, no dripping and not much waiting.

Hope someone out there finds this useful!

I think that might work to flush out a carto also with either alcohol, water or even PG. :)

Good idea! But I'd recommend using a larger syringe - doing that with a little 5ml syringe would probably get a bit tedious.

Oh, and you'd have to call it a Cartomizercleaninator or Cartomizerflushinator- I trademarked those, too. ;)

The only thing that worries me is all the talk about fluid dripping onto the battery and killing it, but I'm sure that just takes a little bit of extra time to make sure it's dry.

Pre-cisely! If you happen to use a bigger syringe, you might also be able to blow out a some of the extra e-liquid after filling by cycling the plunger a few times with the carto pulled out of the liquid but still held in or over the mouth the bottle... thus salvaging at least a few extra drops of liquid rather than condemning it to a paper towel.

1st : a bump to get this back to the front page, because I think it's a really cool idea.

Thanks!

2nd : What size/capacity syringe are you using, or having the most success with?

Doh! I should have stated that in the video. The ones I had on hand came from MadVapes and were sold as 5ml, but were actually marked up for 6ml. I would think any size would do; the Luer Lock is sort of a defacto standard, so the tip size shouldn't change with capacity.

Based on some of the good feedback above, I'd recommend a 5ml for normal filling, and maybe a 10-20ml (or even bigger) for cleaning/flushing with water or alcohol. I'll try to order some larger ones soon and make an update video if different sizes prove more effective for certain uses.

Have you tried it with a go-go cart?

I don't have a Go-Go so haven't tried it, but... if it's roughly the same diameter as a 510 or 808 it should work. If you happen to have a Luer Lock syringe sitting around you can also just take an end cap and put it over the syringe tip. If it fits well, you should be good to go.

Please let me know if you give it a try and it works; that would be great info for an update later on!

(Same goes for all those 901, 403, BR549, 90210 and what-all users out there. ;) )

FYI- a few months back I found a video using a plastic syringe and bottle adapter (sold at any WMart or pharmacy: used to give babies / infants medicine orally) to rinse out cartos.
You put the bottle adapter onto the syringe- and the carto fits snuggly into the bottle adapter.
Flush out the carto by drawing and expelling HOT HOT water through it: when done- pump the syringe 30-40 times with no liquid and it helps to dry it out.

No reason you couldn't use the baby syringe and bottle adapter to fill your cartos.Buy CVS Oral Syringe 2 Tsp/10 mL online at CVS.com

I found a source of pretty cheap LLock syringes and have ordered various sizes from 1ml to 60ml to check out and report on... also found some 140ml (!) syringes, but didn't feel like paying $8 shipping for a $5.00 part.

Will do some testing with cleaning, flushing, filling with the various sizes to see what works best and do an update in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the great ideas, folks!

Cool! I did a search and found this blog that links to this video. Is that the one you're referring to?

That bottle adapter looks like it fits on a "slip tip" (sometimes called a Luer Slip, I've since found out). If so, it would be a good solution for those kinds of syringes (plus, I guess it comes with a syringe, so... one stop shopping!). The only minor disadvantages I see is that 1) it looks like the adapter can slip off a little more easily but that could easily be fixed by gluing it on, and 2) I'm not sure, but if that adapter is hollow it could potentially hold quite a bit of e-liquid that might drip out when the carto is removed. If I get a chance to go to Wally World anytime soon I'll see if I can dig one up and check it out.

And, he provides an excellent tip on fixing draw problems with those dental picks. I'll have to try that next time I get a carto with a harder draw.

Thanks for sharing, proax9!

This is going to be an immense blessing for millions of people! You are so good to invent that!

Do you mind if I link to it when I get to the blogrant about Aged, Infirm, Halt and Lame Intermediate Class? (the Intermediate Prep ones just went up today, I'm hoping to get the next ones done soon)

I'm still "low vision," meaning I have enough left to do the condom method with the aid of 5X magnifying glasses and a 10X magnifying mirror, and see videos, kindasortically.

It's pretty cool the way fingers take over as eyes shift into the ornamental-use only category, but anything that involves feeling and using an Xacto knife on something that has to be that close to fingers is probably best left to people who have been blind for a while, or who can see normally.

So if you're low - or recently no - vision, and want one of these wondrous devices, please ask somebody who can either see it, or who has years of experience with sightless Xacto knife use while holding teeny tiny objects to make you one!
