Cartomizers and Juices

Okay, so here is my - Off The Wall, "His brain must not be working" - question of the day:

I noticed that some of the juices from some sites say they MAY crack plastic cartomizers. What would cause this problem? What 510 PV carts are non-plastic? I know I have a ton of boge SRs and a pack of Volcano LR (I think they're LR, I'll have to check). Are these 'plastic' and should I avoid the ones that have that statement?

I am still looking to get a different PV (still taking suggestions, LOL)

EDIT: And if this is in the wrong spot, please move it or something. It was kind of hard to discern where it should go because it's kind of two things in one.

I thought cartomizers were all metal?
Are you sure it didn't say clearomizers and tanks?
I'm on my phone atm so can't really search but there's a post somewhere that lists tank cracking juices. Plastic and glass will melt and crack unless they are Pyrex or metal.

I haven't a clue. I'd have to check. If they are metal, then there's a lot of flavors I've apparently denied myself (actually, there's a lot I've apparently denied myself because I was not properly informed and didn't do my research well enough , but that's the way it goes).

*Goes to check the flavor again* I really need to learn to read. It does say tanks. *Sigh* My brain isn't wrapping around words lately. LOL

Yep acidic juices and/or oil based juices will tend to be tank crackers like clove, anise, cinnamon, lemon, ect

Ahh, that is a helpful thing. :) Thanks for the link.

No prob. You are re-using the cartridges from the cig-look-alikes?

If so then no worries to put whatever in these.

Yes, yes I am. Thank you for putting that at ease. Now all I need to do is find a better setup than using the blu batteries! ;) Although, now that has my mouth watering because I was hesitant about some flavors because I only read 'may crack plastic' and my brain wasn't wired to compute the process of 'DUH, look INSIDE the cartomizer and see if it's metal you dolt.' (yes, like I said, I derp out...often).

Well now, guess I'll continue to eyeball this thread while I look for non-mod PV setups and start eyeballing the juice threads to see about flavors and where to get. :)

I love cartos, I'm still using them today. Cheap single coiled boges and smoktech's, forget about cartotanks.. because how effective a carto tank is depends on the juice you use, not to mention other factors. I am a dripper so I carry that mentality with me to cartomizers. I prime a few the night before, put the condoms on, tape to the side of the juice bottles and vape on-demand. Then after awhile when they look all dark and dont absorb the liquid so well, I chuck 'em. When they begin to taste dry, I drip some more (get yourself a needle nose bottle).. it's fun for the whole family.

While others actually have answered the OP, I wanted to reassure him or her that even seasoned vapers always have cartomizers on hand. You go through vaping in stages. One minute you're hooked on one method, then the next minute you're onto something else. Then you re-visit somthing you put down long ago.

Enjoy the ride, folks.

Glass will not melt or crack weather or not it is pyrex.

Glass and metal will not crack or melt.

MOST plastics will melt, fog or crack. Polypropylene will stand up to most juices but it is the only plastic exception I know of and not very common.

MOST clearomizers are made of polycarbonate and will crack. Glass clearos being the exception.

Cartomizers are metal. Some have a coating on them to turn them black or white or a color but if you peel that off you will see they are metal underneath.

CE3 XL clearos are slim and look nice on a small battery like a Blu. I don't know what they are made of (since they are clear, not frosty like polypro), but they don't appear to react with juices like other clearos. Some people don't like them and say they leak, but I haven't found they leak any more than other clearos, in fact generally less.

I have bought at least 15 boxes of them (they come 5 to a box). One epically failed and about 10 others sort of seeped, but very slowly. I would find them empty when they shouldn't have been, but no "dripping" type of leaking. The drawback is that they are best suited for just having one flavor in them. They can supposedly be cleaned, but I think that would potentially make them more likely to leak (they are vacuum sealed).

They are also called "Phoenix Bottom Coil Cartomizers" (I have no idea why, since they are clearos). Steel Jan has a very good review of them on youtube under that name. This is where I buy mine:

Well considering I plan on changing up soon, thanks to your help with finding out what exactly I need to do, the blu's might only be for going out and wanting something streamlined vs. looking like a miniature baseball bat to beat someone with. LOL

The only thing thing that made me seriously upset and rethink whether vaping was for me, was last year when I got juice in my eye. Not fun, folks. Of course this was a source of amusement to my friends (sme even said it was a right of passage from newbieville) but it felt like I was going to go blind at the time. To this day, whenever I'm shaking down a cartomizer while priming or blowing out a flooded atty, I close my eyes.

RHP: Ouch! Either way though, I can probably think of something far, far worse getting into the eye...seriously, that burns like no tomorrow.

Baditutde: I heard of the pyrex ones being decent. Also glass as well. Oh, and Polypro or something. I'm sure it'll take me some getting used to, but with the help I'm getting, it's becoming easier and easier! :)

I've been using CE2 clearos and do clean mine when they start getting hard to draw. I just set it in a cup of water for awhile and then swish them back and forth. I've always found particles at the bottom of the cup after doing this. After getting the particles of gunk out of there, they draw much easier and I have no leaking problems.

What is the difference between the CE2's and the CE3's? I've been paying $9.99 for a pack of 5 of the CE2's. Thanks for the link. I may have to give them a try.
